A joint obsessively dedicated to presenting the finest local and national blues and blues-rock acts.

The Scene
Despite the drawbacks of being a small, somewhat cramped neighborhood bar in a suburb a few miles up the Allegheny River from Pittsburgh, Moondog's brings in the music. Next door to Moondog's is the Starlite Lounge restaurant, and patrons can order food to take into the club, which also runs regular features such as free cover and a bluegrass jam on Tuesdays, electric open stage on Thursdays and Friday happy hour with local R&B legend Norm Nardini.
The Music
Touring acts like the Nighthawks and Studebaker John play here time and time again, attracting audiences from far and wide who often catch wind of the action by listening to the blues shows on radio station WYEP.
Best Pittsburgh Blues Bar
by vetbridge
I have seen a few dozen bands art Moondog's and have yet to have anything other than a great time. Rock, blues, reggae, folk, you name it and it has been at Moondog's at one time or another. Everything from new local bands to national acts play this venue. From your first visit you can be a part of the "family".
- Pros: great music, friendly patrons, casual
- Cons: small seating area, bathroom lines
