Saved my week!!

by js74doc

I would never be someone who writes reviews but I feel like this place deserves someone to take the time after how well I was treated during my stay. I was staying at a hotel down the street and the noise from the hospital next door was keeping me up at night. I was in town on an important business trip and could not sleep. I called Shadyside Inn and the girl at the front desk told me they were all out of their standard suites. I told her my story and she was able to give me one of their 2 bedroom suites for the price of their standard suite. Best of all it was half the price of the place I was staying. The suite was HUGE! I had problems finding the place where my next meeting was and the girl from the front desk sent up printed out mapquest directions. I stay at a lot of hotels across the country and Shadyside Inn is a great value and their staff actually care.

  • Pros: Customer service was top notch

rude staff

by southernbelle42

when my husband and i arrived for a romantic weekend we found our room dirty, we asked the maid that was on duty, terry if shed mind cleaning it, she got an attitude with us and said shed get to it when she was ready then mumbled some racial comment. we returned a few hours later to find the room somewhat clean. the next morning we stopped another maid, named annamarie, and told her about the uncleanliness of our room. she apologized and promised to get to it right away. and even offered to give ussome points of interest.

  • Pros: the one maid,annamarie
  • Cons: the other maid,terry.

Misleading and rude

by clarkbhm

The Shadyside Inn may be a nice hotel for 1-3 adults to stay in. However, four adults is a different matter. The two bedroom ambassador suite has a full bed in one bedroom and a twin bed in the other bedroom. They said that a cot could be brought in...Tomorrow! The maintenance guys had already gone home for the day. Somebody had to sleep on the couch (not a hideaway bed).

Their website is very misleading... In describing the rooms, they talk about service for four, but obviously if you don't mind sleeping on a cot. We would have gone elsewhere if we had realized what "two-bedrooms" actually meant. The management was incredibly rude and unwilling to help us in any way.

  • Pros: Good location
  • Cons: , Misleading Website

Pleasant, home-like lodgings for extended-stay visitors.

The Scene
Weekly and monthly rates combine with a prime location to offer a solid choice for long-term travelers. The property is particularly appealing to medical faculty or family members visiting patients at the following hospitals, all of which are within a mile of the inn--Presbyterian, Montefiore, Magee Women's, Falk Clinic, West Penn, Children's, Shadyside, St. Francis and Western Psychiatric.

The Details
The inn offers Studio, One-Bedroom, Two-Bedroom and Ambassador Suites. The décor is comfortable and residential, more like the style found in a private home than in a hotel. Living spaces are nicely done with sofas, lounging chairs and coffee tables. As well, some accommodations include full dining areas. Colors are muted and the furnishings are traditional. Free, off-street parking is offered with all stays. Weekly and monthly rates include gas and electric. The inn is two blocks from the many restaurants and shops of Walnut Street. Additional attractions within a mile include The Carnegie Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History.
