If you want snotty and rude (which some people in the area love, it seems) then go here. If you want down-to-earth stylists who will work for you not ignore you while charging outrageous sums, go to Alberta Modern Hair - it's just down the street and a much better value.
Pros: Great place if you're a masochist
Cons: rude, late, overpriced

The staff that performs the waxing is very professional and thorough, however, I have never had such horrible hair cut experiences. The stylist could see that I had very curly hair. She began straightening it with a flat iron and then proceeded to cut. Since it was flat ironed, it looked great. However, once I washed my hair and let it dry naturally, I realized that the hairstylist gave my a cut for a straight-haired person. My hair looked like a lopsided grown-out mullet! When I went back and asked them to fix it, the hairstylist put even more layers on the top. I told her that she should not be cutting off the top, but the bottom instead. She disagreed, stating her experience with curly hair....Excuse me- but I have over 30 years handling my curly hair and knowing what works and she came across as knowing more than I, in this instance????? Needless to say, she really perfected the mullet the other hairstylist started. I had to go to another stylist who ended up having to cut four inches off from the bottom, in order to get rid of the "mullet"!
Pros: Waxing
Cons: Hairstylists

This is a bright, modern, gorgeous, clean, inviting salon. They give you beautiful, soft robes and disposable flip flops for your massage. Yes, some of the staff in front seem a little stuck up and could definitely be nicer, however, if you can get past that, the actual salon staff are really wonderful and really know what they are doing. Annie, the facialist, is really sweet. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Pros: great location, beautiful salon, coffee
Cons: strange vibe from front staff, a little stand-offish...

Besides they are not offering the receipt these days. They don't even deserve a half of the star. That's it. More writing on this would be a waste of time.

I recently visited the La Pomponne in McMurray and they made me feel like royalty. From the moment I scheduled the appointment, I fell in love with the staff at La Pomponne. They even called me the day before my appointment to confirm my time and make sure I knew how to get there. When I walked in the door they took my coat, poured me a glass of wine, and offered me a robe to wear during my color service to avoid any color getting on my clothes. During my services, the customer service staff was constantly checking on me to make sure I didn't need anything. At the time of my appointment they only had a "junior" stylist available and I must admit I was nervous. But she did an amazing job on my hair and was very knowledgeable. She gave me many great tips for styling my hair at home and even gave me a few samples of products to try at home. Upon checking out I found the customer service staff to be very friendly and they helped me get my next appointment scheduled. I love La Pomponnee and would recommend it to all of my friends.
Pros: Great Customer Service
Cons: I couldn't stay all day. :o(

Beautiful hair color, but the stylist "forgot" to tell me that they charge for highlights, lowlights, and conditioning treatments- my bill was over 200.00 ( after the cut, too) and then I had to tip the three extra people that finished my blowdry, massaged my hands and washed my hair! I liked the color and cut, but I did not get any special treatment for spending so much money.....don't forget the parking fee in the garage, too!
Pros: good stylists
Cons: too expensive

I recvd. hair color and a cut at La Pomponnee last year. The appointment lasted more than an hour longer than any similar experience at other high end salons. Following the visit my hair color initially looked beautiful. However, by the end of the FIRST day I had the hair color on my shirt and even the headrest of my car. This color issue continued the next day when I had the color all over my pillow. I contacted the salon by phone multiple times and was never given a complete response. I continued to attempt to contact the owner/manager of the salon but was never successful. The person I did reach explained that hair color does fade quickly and that I should use a color safe shampoo. I informed this individual that I purchase Aveda color safe shampoo upon leaving the salon and did not wash my hair for 3 days following the color treatment. The first 5 washes (with color safe shampoo) left massive amounts of color in the tub. I essenitally had no evidence of hair color after 10 days and many of my pillow cases and clothing items were ruined (thankfully I was able to use leather cleaner to remove the residue from my car headrest). I wrote a letter to the manager and NEVER received a response. Although the hair cut was a nice basic hair cut and the color initally look fantastic the complete lack of customer service is inexcusable. I would not recmd. La Pomponnee based upon this experience. Following 5 phone calls and a letter I would have expected some type of attempt to satisfy me, THE CUSTOMER. I am no stranger to hair color so this was not a result of my own error. The color was an espresso overall with brown red hilights. I know that red is the hardest color to maintain, but the color leaving my hair was primarily the espresso brown. The red was no longer visible following the first wash the brown by the end of 10 days.

I am sorry to say that I was not pleased with my experience there. I did feel as though the woman that did my spa experience was not friendly nor helpful. It stinks because this place is so close to where I live.

I just recently moved to Pittsburgh and was very stressed out and my husband got me a gift certificate to la pomponnee. What a wonderful place! I had the best massage ever. I felt totally relaxed and stress free when I left. I even picked up a couple of products and booked another appointment for a massage as well as for a haircut. love this place!

I've been going to la pomponnee for a few months now & I wouldn't go anywhere else! After recently moving into the South Hills, it was time to find the right spa for me & I found it at la pomponnee. The staff is great and very accommodating to my needs. They are highly educated with there products and will answer all your questions! If you're looking for a great place to be pampered...look no further!!
Pros: Great location, great staff
