The worst service I have had in years!!!

The horrible service outweighs the mediocre food. Went for a quick lunch, stayed for two hours, not by choice! They were not busy, just completely unattentive. The waitress was downright rude for no apparent reason. The 'famous' lobster roll isn't as good as Billy Roadhouse in the North Hills. I will never go back!! Don't say you weren't warned.

• Cons: Service! Service! Bathroom Attendent in a dumpy restaurant!

was good before but not this time

I have had good food and service here before. On April 26 I had the worst meal ever and with bad service. I had the Maryland crab soup. It had almost no crab and really just tasted like tobasco sauce. I had a crab cake app and that was the end. It tasted old and had some spices that didnt fit with crab. I decided not to try an entee as I had already spent close to 30 dollars (with tip) for the first two horrible items and a couple of overpriced beers.

Worst service, non-attentive management

The service is bad. Have been there on several occasions and the service is still bad. Most recently was there on Good Friday. My friend and I decided to sit in the bar area. We ordered a Cheeseburger, bowl of soup, and a fish sandwich. It took 15 minutes for the soup to arrive and 45 minutes for the fish sandwich and cheeseburger to arrive. I have not yet figured out how this restaurant stays in business. I will never enter or dine here again. Please avoid at all costs.

Good food but so-so service

The first disappointment we had when visiting Roland's was that we were not offered the special menu that has a discounted price on a meal for 2 and a bottle of wine which they have on certain weekdays.We only found that out after a female waitress offered it to people who come after us. They were able to get the same meal we had for a cheaper price! Our waiter also seemed very distracted and needed to be reminded to bring things. On the plus side the servings were huge and quite tasty. The seafood was fresh and nicely seasoned. The friendliest person was the bartender who welcomed people into the place and also kept up a running patter with the people in the bar.

• Pros: huge servings! good seafood.
• Cons: service was spotty and disappointing.

Fun times

I recently moved to pittsburgh and I live moment away from Rolands. I recommend the resteraunt. It does have some poor qualities but over all great place. I was there on a sunday with some friends and the waitress up stairs( I believe her name was terry) made feel as if I did not belong there. She had a bad attitude and even more harsh choice of language. How ever the irish guy downstairs is fun to watch and talk too. On tuesdays they have a great dinner for two special where you get a bottle of wine (nothing expensive but great for the price) and they have a excellent beer selection upstairs as well. The bartenders where very helpful and knowledgeable. Those two make you feel as if you have been there for years and know how to have a good time. The lobster roll is a unique dish and taste well. The pizzas are good as well. I def recommend going upstairs or sitting with Irish guy downstairs. Thanks guys you are great...

AVOID at ALL COSTS

Under no circumstances would I ever eat at Roland?s. Why?!?

1.Poor Service

2.Sub par Food

3.Not recommended for large parties b/c restaurant policy doesn?t allow split checks and only 3 forms of payment can be used. So even if you have one bill and all want to pay with credit cards you can only use up to three. They don?t tell you this up front.

?4.Unsanitary: Stepped on a dead something near game room.

?5.Horrible Management: Not once did we get an apology for the service, food or rodents. They made us feel like we were to blame.

Tonight I gathered for a going-away bash directly after work for one my colleagues. What started as a joyful occasion ended as one of the worst experiences of my life! It took forever to find a waitress assigned to my table of 10. When she did provide service it always required an unbelievable wait time. No one was impressed with their food selections?lobster ravioli dry, calamari undercooked and stuffed mushrooms that were just average. To top it off it took us nearly an hour and a half to close out our ticket because our waitress obviously wasn?t familiar with payment policies at Roland?s (see above) Ended in at least 3 trips back and forth to our table with discussions with two managers and us making a trip to the ATM across the street in -7 degree weather. To top it off one of my colleagues stepped on dead gray something. Management offered no explanation and instead called the police because suddenly we had become disorderly. Keep in mind that my group consisted of master?s and doctorate prepared Pittsburgh professionals, five men and 8 women with no drunkards in the bunch. I wouldn?t return to Roland?s if they gave the food away and offered me $100 bucks. I wouldn?t recommend it to Satan himself. And I don?t recommend it to any of you, unless of course you like partying with Mickey, Minnie and friends.

Food-Service Poor

I used to love going to Rolands for dinner, but their food has really gone downhill. Don't get me wrong- its a great place for a drink and something from the raw bar- but dinner was bad last night. The clam chowder was too peppery, the lobster raviouli spicy and dry, and our waitress flat out told us that the cook would not take the shrimp tails off of the shrimp in my fathers pasta when he requested them.

Its a shame- it was such a nice place. But do go if you like a raw bar- they do that well!

Rolands is the ultimate night time place to be. With the upstairs playing all you favorite rock music through the jukebox, entertaining bartenders, and three pool tables, to the nightclub downstairs playing your favorite hits from the past to the present. If a fun party atmosphere is what your looking for then Rolands is the place to be.

Can't wait to go again!

Everytime we go to Roland's we can't wait to get back. We have never been dissatisfied with anything. The lobster roll and pizzas are the best. The grilled salmon salad is my favorite. I love eating on the terrace - up or down. The prices are good, too.

Don't eat the seafood

The lobster was tough and the calamari was rubbery. If you like seafood, don't go here. Other food may be ok. Bar atmosphere and patio aren't bad.
