I cannot believe the review that mjarrad left about her experience. It really upset me because I have been going to this salon for many years and I have to put my two cents in. Over the years there have been a couple of occasions where my appointment was mixed up some how. It's happened at my doctor's office before , and also my dentist's office. I think mjarrad needs to grow up and start living in the real world where mistakes happen. You just deal with it as best you can. I don't know who did her hair, but everyone I've met there is extremely nice and friendly, and maybe it was mjarrad's attitude that was the real problem. She also said the salon was messy and the store was shabby. I was there very recently, and the salon looks great, and so did the store, so I think mjarrad needs to see an eye doctor. I always look forward to my time in the salon, and I'm always happy when I leave. I think mjarrad is a bit on the snooty side, so let her go to the Red Door in New York, because Pittsburgh doesn't need people like her. There, that's my two cents.
Pros: Nice salon, really friendly staff
Cons: none

I had the worst experieince at this salon. I was in town on a business trip and need a quick haircut. They mis-booked my appointment had to scramble to find someone to do my hair, that person did not seem like they did not want to stay, so I felt and was treated like a total burden. I will not, nor will I recomend to any of my partners to use Arden when in Pittsburgh. They tried to send me to another salon on the 4th floor, I booked my appointment for Arden, the one in New York is much nicer and run much better. I was dissapointed. The salon was messy and poorly maintained. Thank god I do not have to shop at Macy's often, as I thought the whole store was shabby. Take me back to the Red Door Elizabeth Arden, this one should not be allowed to have the name. I am sure she(Elizabeth Arden) is rolling over in her grave over this!!!

I am so happy I found Sarah! I started going to Sarah about six months ago, and I've never been happier with my hair. She's totally changed my look, with a richer color and some highlights that really rock. The cut is probably one of the coolest cuts I've ever had, and people are always stopping me to ask who does my hair. I LOVE IT! During my last visit, Sarah told me she's beein doing all of the hair color for one of the movies that is shooting in Pittsburgh, and so now I feel like I'm going to a celebrity hairdresser! How cool is that? I've also had my eyebrows done my a girl named Lan, and she's fantastic too. Last week Sarah talked me into getting a manicure and pedicure, and this really funny guy named Marc did my hands and feet, and it was one of the best pedicures I've ever had. I'm feel like I'm rambling, but I am so excited to be going to this salon. I recommend it to everyone. I've been to all the other "spa's" downtown, and this salon and spa is by far the best I've found. I just feel so good whenever I leave, and I can't wait to go back!
Pros: Sarah, Lan, and Marc
Cons: None, it's all worth it.

I have always marveled over the way the regional manager has treated all the employees of the salon. While having my hair cut and colored I have witnessed her ALWAYS greeting every employee with a smile, addressing them all by name and telling them they were doing a great job. As employees come in to her area to sweep up the cut hair and change the towels all are treated like they are an important part of the salon staff. This is something we see far to little of in business these days. And as far as salon staying modern with styles and color techniques, I have never known anyone more dedicated to ongoing education in the area of style than the regional manager who I know to attend continuing education classes in New York City on an annual basis, and having companies come in to the salon and update the technicians with new coloring techniques. Just 3 weeks ago I decided to make a major change to my hair style. I had been wearing my hair in a long layered style and decided it was time for a total change. I wanted a short updated look. I met with the regional manager and we talked about the cut and style I was interested in. I had some photos from magazines of the look I wanted to achieve, we talked about the texture for my hair and the shape of my face and how she would adapt the look for me. From the time I left the chair I have been receiving compliments about the cut. My friends have been commenting on how much they love it and 2 friends have mentioned my new style looked so good it has inspired them to make a change in their look. Just last week I attended an event at my son’s school, seeing a lot of people I hadn’t seen since my new hair style. I received so many compliments, with one woman coming over and saying, “Oh my God. I couldn’t believe it when I saw you come in the door. Your hair looks so great I had to come right over to tell you how much I love your new style. I highly recommend the Arden Salon to anyone.

It is great to see that the manager wanted to see the salon clean and to get the staff to see the importance of great customer service! I have been a longtime client of the salon and have never witnessed rude behavior by Management, in fact the Managers know me by name. What a great way to start your day. Keep up the good work!
Pros: close to work, personal attention, quality service

I am a college student who was getting married and a friend recommended to call the Elizabeth Arden Salon in Macy's in Pittsburgh. They transferred me to the Regional Manager, Linda who made my experience something I will never forget. She set up a time to speak and asked me what I would like and took the time to listen to my every need. I then made my appointments thru her for my special day. It was refreshing to see how this Manager had such a good relationship with her staff when she worked with them to book my day at the salon. Needless to say, my experience was wonderful and would recommend to any new bride to be.
Pros: great management staff, great service, friendly
Cons: none

I've been going to the Elizabeth Arden Salon for years, and after reading the horrible review that barballen37 left for this salon, I have to have my say. I have always been happy with this salon. It is a large salon with many stylists of ALL ages. I've seen stylist's in their 20's, 30's, 40's etc. as well as manicurists and skin care specialists of ALL ages. My hairdresser is in her early 30's, her name is Olivia, and I always get TONS of compliments on my hair. While reading this review closely, it became clear to me that this was written by a disgruntled former employee. Most of the review was directed at the salon's regional manager, not the salon itself. Over the many years that I have went to this salon, I'm sure there have been times when management was present, and I have never witnessed anything remotely close to the incident that barballen37 wrote about. I really love this salon, and I really love my hair stylist, and I would hate for anyone to miss out on experiencing this salon based on the review of an obviously disgruntled employee who had an axe to grind with management. Read barballen37's review carefully and read between the lines and it is clear that it is an obvious attempt at discrediting a former employer. I can whole heartedly say that I would recommend this salon to anyone and everyone!
Pros: Olivia is a great stylist!
Cons: parking, could use more evening hours

I had the most awful experience at this salon. If you are looking to update your look, or change your look, this is not the place to go. The front desk is nice enough. The stylist that did my hair was not current in their cuts and style, I saw maybe 2 stylists that were under the age of 50. The others are not, and they butchered my hair, the color is awful, and I am pretty sure the girl that applied my color did not have her license, she was an assistant or something. Then as I was leaving, there was a heavy set woman talking to the desk about clean this, clean that, I later found out she was the regional manager, I have never heard someone talk to their employees that way before, she was very condecending and rude to them. I wanted to complain about my hair. But when I learned that the lady barking orders at the front desk would be the I complained to, I figured why bother. If someone would speak to her own employees that way, what would she do for me? I was mortified that someone like that would be in charge. Simply mortified, she was awful in her tone to those girls. I had to go to another salon and get my hair fixed. I have never seen someone speak to employees that way, I do not recomend this salon......I will never goto another Macy's Salon again... I encourage you to do the same.

I have been going to Anna K since 1996. I followed her to Elizabeth Arden salon. Anna is the consummate professional and does her job very well. Anna goes the extra mile to assure that you are comfortable. I was fortunate enough to book a pedicure with Anna. I did not know services such as eyebrow/lash tinting and body polishing existed. I have had manicures, pedicures and facials many times, but none like Anna’s such as facial with pressure point Indian head massage, neck and shoulders massage, and especially with the addition of reflexology for feet. After a busy day at the office, I truly look forward to seeing Anna’s smile and succumb to her pampering. - Nancy W
