You get quite a mix of people in this joint..Business types..punk rockers..Rockabilly chicks and cats..and local yocals. Great!! No problems....kinda like we are all in on this cool little secret..ya know?? Great beer selection...great jukebox...good bartenders. Also..really good bar food! Great wings. Stop in...take a deep breath..ahhhhh..the smell of greasy food..urinal cakes and cigarettes.....Victory!!!! Don't mind the grumpy door man.."Alphie" ,if he still works there....He looks rough, but a clever guy with a heart of gold! What are u waiting for??? Head out to the Hill..Polish Hill that is!
- Pros: Great Beer..good service..reasonable prices
- Cons: A bit smokey at times......
Best Darn Bar In The Burgh

Not only is it cheap but it's full of people just there to drink and hang out. No pretense is right.
The bartenders are great and attentive. The music is usually good even if it's not your bag. The beer selection is out of this world. And everyone is pretty friendly.
- Pros: Cheap. Unpretentious
- Cons: It's in polish hill
A tremendous selection of imports, great specials and killer tunes make this Polish experience one not to be missed.

The Scene
Dark and dingy, like most Pittsburgh neighborhood bars, Gooski's has a style all its own. A front bar area with booths, bar seating and raised tables gives way to a small hallway which leads to the poolroom. But on the way, don't pass by a stellar Wurlitzer.
Who's There
Blue-collar types and young punks down the more than affordable brews in the two spacious coolers on either side of the golden rail.
When to Go
Wednesday nights at Gooski's are one of the best deals in Pittsburgh. For just $1.50, you can enjoy your favorite imports, including beers from Ireland, England, the Czech Republic and, of course, Poland.
On the Jukebox
Something for everyone: the Smiths, the Cure, the Breeders, the Damned, the Misfits, the Ramones and the Muffs are there for the indie crowd, while the Jam, the Rolling Stones, the Velvet Underground, the Yardbirds and the Beatles are there for the slightly older yet hip crowd. Modern gems like Belle and Sebastian, AC/DC, Motley Crue and Queen mix in with rockabilly and country classics from Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr. and Buddy Holly.
Hold the pretense, please

The thing that makes Gooski's such a great bar for me is that everyone checks their pretentiousness at the door. Not coincidentally, this makes for great conversation with folks you might not encounter on a daily basis.
