Good Experience
by alaskagrown84 at Citysearch
I had a very good and relaxing experience at Oliverio. I liked that Ron was very cooperative and willing to keep trying things until we got just what I wanted. My dye job was very nice and I have been receiving compliments on it ever since. I highly recommend this salon!
Nice for men hair cut, friendly

The guy, Ron, is friendly and you can ask for the way you want. The place is clean n nice also. My boyfriend n had the haircut today. Yes, he used scissors. I would say pretty decent hair saloon in Pittsburgh in terms of price and service received.
- Pros: friendly, decent haircut,caring +student discount
- Cons: -
perfect at cutting guys hair
by RayM at Citysearch
I'm a male college student and i've been coming here ever since my freshman year. he is simply amazing. he cuts with scissors (something supercuts won't do)
i always leave happy...the one downer is the price... around 25 for a cut...but its worth it. no one does it better so I have no choice but to pay up.
- Pros: actually uses scissors at your request!!!!
- Cons: price
Better than the bad reviews make it sound!!

I just went for the first time and I love my cut. I have curly hair, which I think isn't that hard to cut, but I have had poor haircuts in the past (somewhere else). Ron was quiet at first but became friendlier as time went on. He listened to everything I like and don't like. He taught be about different Aveda products that would work for my hair, and let me pick which one I wanted to try. After looking at the reviews on here, I was nervous to go to Oliverio's but I was desperate!! Luckily, he gave me a really cute A-line cut. My hair is curly but thin and he made it look deceivingly full of volume!! My only complaint is that the salon could have nicer interior design. ($36 for a womens cut)
- Pros: Last Minute appointments and listens well!!
- Cons: Not the prettiest salon!

my husband and i just moved to pittsburgh and were looking for an aveda salon.we were both very happy with our haircuts.i also got highlights and waxing.the color looks great .my waxing was probably the fastest i have ever had, which is definately a plus.ron and tania are very friendly, very accomodating and ran on time.we will definately go back.
- Pros: great service
Not Impressed
by Cali616 at Citysearch
I went here for highlights. I told him what I wanted and he suggested adding low lights as well. I agreed, but was frustrated because he didn't even use foils...he just let the dyed strands of hair sit on top of my other hair! I also got my hair cut. He thinned out my hair A LOT and didn't even ask me if that was ok. When I was finished my hair color looked almost exactly the same except for two blonde streaks and my hair cut looked limp. I went to ULTA in the waterfront to get it fixed and my stlyist said that there were "specks" of blonde all trough my lower layers of hair and that she could see the "jagged" scissor lines from where he thinned it. She told me it would take at least two more haircuts to fix this....NEVER AGAIN!
- Pros: cheap
- Cons: bad service, hair looks awful
Good Job

Ron was very kind and friendly. He cut my hair exactly the way I asked him to, and did a good job. The price was very reasonable and the student discount was great!
Manicure at Oliverio's
by aolivez at Citysearch
I got a manicure at Oliverio's recently, and for $12 +tip, I was very satisfied with the service. My appointment started ten minutes late (which I thought was strange because they asked me to come in 10 minutes before my original scheduled time), the process itself was quick. Taunya gives a very basic, efficient manicure, trim, file, buff, with one cream, primer/colour/top coat. This is probably not the ideal place to a full-on pamper me treatment; it IS the place to get in and out for that weekly mani-maintenance. The best thing about Oliverio's is the great selection of colours: pearls, blues, shimmery, sparkley, matte, dark-to-light, even copper and a shimmery olive green! Taunya really knows OPI's collections (of which there are many), so she'll be able to find your perfect colour.
- Pros: Great colour selection, efficient service
- Cons: No-frills basic mani
Professional Hair Cut
by finishim at Citysearch
Ron is a very kind guy, and is a very professional hair designer.. He tries to fully satisfy his customer with the result of the haircut. No surprise why he has been in busines for 17 years.
Just remember to call him for an appointment, he might not be always available
- Pros: Near CMU, Cheaper for Students, Good Service
Great Customer Service

Ron is very welcoming and takes his time making sure that your haircut looks the way you would like. The atmosphere is very quiet and cozy and I would highly recommend it for students since the price is reasonable and the service is great!
