Cheap and very busy.

Went here after going to the Carnegie Museum. Slow service but our food was great and under $20 with tip for both of us. Recommended.

Good carry-out if you know what to order- terrible service

by Teej at Citysearch

Lulu's is convenient, reasonably-priced and quick (theoretically), and has a handful of good menu options. I go there frequently and have had good servers, but 2 out of 3 times or so the service is incredibly slow and/or the waitresses are rude. The last time I went in was between lunch and dinner and there weren't many people there. I stood waiting to be seated until the girl folding napkins looked at me then ignored me. I took a seat and waited 20 minutes until my friend arrived with no service, then when my friend asked for menus she scolded us for sitting. She ignored us intentionally even though she wouldn't seat us to begin with! I like some of the food and the price is right, but I really wish they would get some better servers.

  • Pros: bubble tea, pan-fried noodles, dr.fu noodles
  • Cons: the curry is terrible!

One size fits all

by teresewallace at Citysearch

You would do better to go to Trader Joes, but a bottle of prepared sauce, and stir fry dinner at home. Everything seems to be made from one of 3 sauces, with a little something different thrown in. The Pho is not anything like pho. The Kung Pao chicken taste like soy sauce, cornstarch and a hot red chili served over innocuous stir fried veggies. The scallion pancake? a flour tortilla with sliced scallions.. However, unlike other reviewers,' experiences, our service was fine. But we won't be back to see if the uptick in service is a trend that holds true.

  • Pros: low prices
  • Cons: Boring, inauthentic food

nice decor, avg food, bad service

by cizium at Citysearch

I tried Lu Lu's noodle 2 times and I gave up. The food is just ok. The basil chicken tasted hard and not fresh. The other food are ok.

But the worst is the staff at the counter. I order once "to go". Even when I were standing there to pay and there were no customer before me, they completely ignored me. I thought they were busy, so I waited for a while and asked them if I could order. The lady with full make-up gave me a look as if I bothered her and she was very abrupt and I had to wait for her again just to get the change back. After that event, I never go again. My friends also told me that they have poor service especially for Asians customer. Just FYI. You judge it for yourself.

  • Pros: just late opening hour
  • Cons: poor and unfriendly service

Good and Terrible

by PGHDiner at Citysearch

I had a delicious meal that was dirt cheap. That part I liked. It was very crowded and noisy with college kids and the door kept opening and blowing freezing wind through the restaurant making it uncomfortable to stay there. The service wasn't that great but they were busy. If you want cheap good food this is a place to go.

  • Pros: cheap tasty dishes
  • Cons: crowded, sloppy service

Average food, terrible service

by Zuke at Citysearch

Basically with the food, you get what you pay for. Very moderately priced. The food isn't entirely disappointing, but isn't excellent either.

Most notably, the employees here are incredibly rude. I have been rushed out of the restaurant multiple times at night. Usually around 9:40 (while I am still eating) and the restaurant does not even close until 10. In addition, service is quite slow. I have been here a couple of times and even with the low prices, will NOT return.

  • Pros: Price
  • Cons: Service/employees

Very Good Bubble Tea But Consistently Terrible Service

by xopinkyxo7 at Citysearch

I have been a patron of Lu Lu's at a minimum of 10 visits. Generally I stop in for a quick bubble tea, which is always very good. However, not once have I encountered a friendly employee. In fact on two separate occasions, I arrived at 9:30PM just to grab some bubble tea, received stares when I eyed the drink menu, and after whispers were exchanged between a few employees I was told that they were closed! Unfortunately for them, I knew that they closed at 10PM and was very annoyed. Bubble tea literally takes five minutes or less to prepare!

Lastly, once I stood waiting to be seated for quite some time when the restaurant was nearly empty (as a waitress myself, I understand that things happen, but this was unacceptable). I haven't ever written a review of any business, yet after this final bad experience I felt that I must share my frustration! I absolutely love the bubble tea, but the employees are literally keeping me away from the restaurant now.

  • Pros: Bubble tea, some entree items
  • Cons: Service and staff

Eh Food / Horrifying Service

by daflower at Citysearch

I'm from LA and while visiting Pittsburgh I had a craving for a good bowl of noodles. By recommendation I visited Lulu's which is a casual joint with neither good food nor good service. Having grown up eating all sorts of Asian food, this place was NOT good and the food I ordered had a very "instant" taste as if it were made from a package. I had never been there before and when I walked in, there was a sign indicating I should order from the counter. I placed my order, paid for my food and took a seat. Around the restaurant there was one other party sitting down eating their food.

When they handed me my food, they had packaged it "to go." I had not ordered "to go" and was irritated since I had even left them a tip when I paid. Nonetheless I sat down to eat my food when a waitress came up to me and told me that to-go orders could not be eaten at the restaurant and that I needed to leave. I told her I had not specified my food to-go and that there were clearly other people eating. The restaurant was not busy and I didn't feel as if I was of any inconvenience. As I continued to eat the food, the other party left and I was one of the last customers. I then realized that the restaurant was closing in about 9:40 and the restaurant was closing at 10. After receiving multiple glares from other waitresses and employees for not leaving, they decided to TURN OUT THE LIGHTS in the restaurant. I was pretty horrified, especially since there was still 20 minutes before it closed. I quickly finished my food in the dark and thought about leaving my trash there, but decided I would at least clean up my mess and take my trash with me and quickly leave the restaurant. Although the food was fairly cheap, I think they approached the situation very poorly and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

  • Pros: Good drinks (bobas, milk teas, thai iced teas, etc), cheap
  • Cons: Bad food, rude service

Love, love, love it!

by falala148 at Citysearch

Love, Love Love it!!!!! Can't beat the price! I have never been disappointed in the many years that I have gone there. It's not the typical American Chinese restaurant. I'm not even sure if they have sweet and sour anything on their menu. Best Pad Thai ever!!!!
