I came here because my friend said it's good for hot dogs but i found nothing special about it. I ordered a super size hotdog with bacon, cheese, pickle, etc. and feel a little disappointed. it can't be compared to NY or Chicago hot dog.

EVERYTHING ON THE "O" MENU IS JUST GREAT. GREAT FOOD AT GREAT PRICES. JUST MAKE SURE YOU USE A BATHROOM BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME, OR YOU JUST MAY LOSE YOUR APPETITE!!! THEY OF COURSE HAVE THE BEST FRIES EVER KNOWN TO MAN SERVED IN AMAZING PORTIONS BUT ALSO MAKE GRATE SUBS THEY ARE ALMOST AS BIG AS THEY FRY SERVINGS. UNLESS YOU ARE A SUMO WRESTLER DONT ORDER A WHOLE SUB, I THINK THEY ARE ABOUT 18 INCHES AND STUFFED FULL. THE STEAK IS JUST GREAT!!! BUT IF YOU ARE IN THE BURG MAKE SURE YOU GO TO THE DIRTY O!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: THE FOOD....... NEED I SAY MORE

Cons: THE BATHROOMS

Bring your appettite if you are going to order fries. We ordered the medium and it was huge. The hot dog was not the best I have ever had (that is Walter's Hot Dog in Mamaroneck, NY) but it was good. I had it with Chili and cheese. The place is definitely a dive, but I was glad I made the visit on my recent trip to Pittsburgh! I could definitely see how great a place this must be for the students of Pitt! Definitely check this place out if you like Hot Dogs. I am not sure about the other food that they offered, as we only had the Hot Dogs and a GIANT medium order of Fries.

Pros: Price, Fries, Hot Dogs

Rated it to other places to eat, but this place is at the top, and don't care about the Family-Friendly and Ambience stuff. Burgers, fries, dogs, shakes and even pizza are all good. Ok, the pizza is sketchy, but good while warm. Never ate anything else there. Go with friends, help will be needed in carrying the food. Fries are on one tray and size does not matter, as the small fry boat will just be buried under the mountain of fries. All the other food will go on the other tray. If late night, definitely go with friends, the place is a little crazy at nights. Eat on top of the "O" as more seating is available.

Pros: Food, Quantity, Price

. I will admit the "O" is a must try but a def. late night snack. I've eaten there about twice sober and that was enough for me. During my senior year at PITT my roommates and I lived directly above the "O" Bar......which provided for much entertainment however really kills your desire to frequent their 'restaurant'.

I read all the reviews here, so I thought I'd give it a try...Hot dogs are okay, not sure why everyone loves them? The bun is good though - fresh and a bit chewy. Also ordered a small fries, which tasted alright, and certainly there were plenty! Service: above average, but nothing spectacular. Did I order the wrong stuff, or the "O" a bit overated? Overall, not a bad place to drop in for a snack, but I just don't get why everyone likes this place.

The Dirty O fries are by far the best in the Burgh! Someone asked me how fires @ a restaurant I went to were, and I said "Not as good as the Dirty O!" I live in Connecticut, and love the Dirty O fries. And they're just HUGE! I ordered a med. and it took 2 people to eat it...in about a half hour! I wear my Dirty O shirt around Connecticut and say "For the best fries, go to Pittsburgh's own Dirty O!" Can't wait to go again. Just so good!

Pros: Great Fries, HUGE Fries, Good Times.

Cons: , be said about the, Dirty O!

I grew up in Pgh area, and went to Pitt in early '80's. Locals appreciate excellent food! Will always remember Dirty O's as a really fun place to hang out and get LOTS of great food at a killer price. (Cheese fries come to mind...) Went back about 5 years ago when my mom was in Presby, and loved it just as good as I did then back then. One of the few places that college kids get treated as "real customers" . Keep up the great job!!!

Pros: great portions/menu, Love "street level", atmosphere

Cons: no parking

listen to the warnings and don't get a medium fries unless you have at least three people. They take forever to eat, and seem to multiply. but, they are very good. The extra beef gravy for them is also a must. The hot dogs are amazing, and are well known around the country, if not the world. The first floor looks like a dump, but the second floor is nice and quiet in the day. Definitely worth it's reputation.

Pros: legendary status, food
