FABULOUS!!!! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS RESTAURANT. This restaurant is out of this world! First class family dining and service. Portions are bountiful. Everything made fresh daily. Hummus is unbelievable! Kassab's will be a regular haunt for this family.

Good food, lousy service. The food is outstanding, but Kassab's has an unfortunate knack for hiring the worst servers on the planet. Take out is fine, but I wouldn't dine there.

Great Place for the $$. This is one of the best places to enjoy quality Middle Eastern food. Baba Gnannoj is outstanding. Filet kabob is an excellent value for the $. The sandwiches are awesome. I've tried just about everything on the menu and have yet to be disappointed.

Great Middle Eastern Food and the service was not bad either... This was our first time here and we enjoyed it a lot.( We usually go that place in Oakland,) We found the food was better, more of it, and the service was quick and very pleasant. That's just what we were looking for, and so we plan to be back ...alot. Thanks Kassab's!

Kassab's. The food is wonderful. However, on our last visit the waitress was lost. It was impossible to get her attention. If it were not for a young man who was also waiting table and who helped her out the experience would have been unbearable. On a more positive note, we are vegetarians and have tried their veggy stuffed grape leafs, veggy mousaka and rice pudding and hummus. All were wondo is the pita. They have a number of other vegetarian offerings and we do plan to go back whenever we are in the South Side. We will hope that we get the young man as our waiter.

The worst service I had for lunch on a Tuesday. Guys I am in the restaurant business. And as a customer it's sad to see this waitress giving this horrible service and then knowing that they will get the 15% no matter what. Please Managers watch your people. Restaurant are not only food and tables. The HEART of a restaurant are the employees. It doesn't matter if the restaurant is 5 stars or 1 star, we customers go there and tip you anyways.

LOCATION LISTED ABOVE OUTDATED. The City Search editor must not have been to Kassab's in a while because it moved from the corner of 10th and E. Carson to a new location further down E. Carson---in between 15th and 16th I think---about 1 1/2 years ago. The new digs are much nicer---hard wood floors, brick walls, almost trendy. But surprisingly, they haven't raised their prices. So you get the same great food for not much cash. And as it's already been noted, the hummus is outstanding.

Tony catered our wedding. Our wedding ring maker, Kieth Attwood, recommended Kassab's to us. My new wife says they make the best Gyro she's ever eaten. But we like all of Tony's creations. His humus is to die for. Celebrated my birthday there last year. On Saturday, October 8, 2005, Tony catered our wedding for 140 people. It was a rave hit!

Not elegant, but it's clean and friendly.. The Scene
This Middle Eastern eatery on the South Side is incredibly inexpensive (it's almost impossible to spend $15 per person) and very good. But look carefully: it's on the corner as city dwellers come across the 10th Street Bridge.

The Food

All the standards are here: hummus, baba ghanoush, and stuffed grape leaves (vegetarian and meat). Go for the fatoosh, which is a salad made of parsley, green onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and toasted pita chips. There's an assortment of wraps available with your choice of lamb, beef, gyro meat, falafel and portabello mushrooms. Kibbee is made fresh on Saturday evenings for the specials. Nightly specials might include wild rice with vegetables or baked chicken breast and potatoes in lemon and garlic sauce.
