Very cool store, Great Experience!
by PittsburghGirl50
My husband and I have been all over Pittsburgh looking for quality furniture at affordable pricing. When we arrived at Perlora Leather we immediately fell in love with many things but we were overwhelmed with decisions. Within a few minutes of arriving we met a talented interior designer who helped us space plan our room, choose paint colors, and pick our furniture. Everything arrived the other day, Perry called us personally to set up delivery and I am nothing short of ecstatic. Thank you Perlora Leather for making my house a home. BEATUTIFUL!
- Pros: Cool building, lots of choices, great accessories.
- Cons: none
Overpriced and poor customer service

Unless you are hoping to impress simply by a "high-end" name..and not necessarily by quality or service, you'd do best to look elsewhere. Overpriced and overrated.
Art you can rest on.

The Scene
Perlora is bound to go down in Pittsburgh history for having one of the most brilliant advertising campaigns ever. They present their unusual home furnishings through personification. So a fringed leather chair is actually the reincarnation of General Custard and a glass vase with abnormally large handles is the reincarnation of Mr. Potato Head. Seeing these pieces actually does bring to mind a distinct personality and attitude, one that's guaranteed to demand attention in any home. Each is so unique and exquisite and the whole store has a modern art museum feel to it.
The Skinny
There isn't much available for under $200. A throw pillow can run about $300 and a loveseat goes for about $3000. Their gallery right across from the Birmingham Bridge on the South Side displays the clever, stylish and usually one-of-a-kind designs. They have everything from the most basic necessities (beds, tables, rugs, sofas) to the most whimsical and frivolous (a fish tank embedded in an old television, decorative fountains). This store is perfect for people who won't mind plunking down the big bucks to have one showcase piece in their home.
