Best Bakery in Pittsburgh...NOT OAKMONT!
by dulaney
I have been eating at Lincoln Bakery since I was a toddler. I have recently tried Oakmont Bakery and Paddy-Cake and both do not measure up to Lincoln.
My favorite part of Lincoln is their icing. It isn't chalky or artificial tasting like Oakmont's but it's light, airy, and smooth.
Their cookies are one of my favorites. Moist and very chewy.
Nearly everything on their menu is good!
Everyone praises Oakmont Bakery but Lincoln deserves the top honors.
Give it a try! You won't be disappointed!
- Pros: great selection...baked goods are fresh and heavenly tasting
- Cons: crowds
the WORST customer service!
by anonymous05
I've had their cake before and frankly was not that impressed, but we're shopping for a wedding cake and thought we'd check out their samples, prices, options, etc. Called to make an appt and was told just to stop in - no appointment needed. So we stopped in - and were immediately told that they couldn't help us w/o an appointment , and they did not care that i had called to try to make an appt and was told it was not necessary. they had a cancellation and told us they could see us in half an hour. so we waited, and when it was finally our turn, 40 mins later, we sat at the table to meet w/someone (the table was filthy btw - covered w/ icing and crumbs) but the woman came out and before even saying hello she groaned "well, if you had called to make an appointment....." and blamed us for their lack of preparedness - no apology, nothing like "sorry you were given inaccurate info - let's see what we can do" it was APPALLING! i have never been treated so rudely - this is the absolute worst customer service i have ever experienced! and their cakes are NOT good enough to warrant such an apathetic attitude towards their customers. I would highly recommend potomac (they were unbelievably friendly) or kribels, or ANY OTHER BAKERY over this overrated, awful place.
- Pros: none
- Cons: rudest staff, mediocre cakes
No filling wedding cake
by denny220
Purchased a wedding cake for May 31, 2008. Specified did not like icing so purchased the fresh strawberry filling. NOT WORTH IT. I had maybe two slices of strawberries on a layer & the rest icing. Very disappointed. Not what we expected at all. But we are getting a whopping $45.00 back, which they said was what we paid for the filling for 225 people. Even though to us it was not what we had ordered & there is no second chance to make it right.
- Cons: Would not recommend for the price
Great Cakes

I think their cakes are delicious. We live outside of the area but we visit for birthdays and special events. We always order our cakes from Lincoln. They are very affordable too, which is always a plus!

Best cakes ever!!!

I lived in Bellevue all of my life. I now have moved out of town and wish that I could find a bakery that makes a cake like Lincoln. The icing is smooth and not too sweet. The cake is always moist. Every time I go home to Pittsburgh I need to get a Lincoln Bakery Cake, even if it isn't a special occasion. My husband laughs at me, but I don't care they are the best cakes I have ever tasted. Highly recommended
Awesome cakes!

I grew up in Bellevue (and now live in MD), and I have not yet tasted a cake that is as "heavenly" as Lincoln Bakery cakes. Everytime I go to Bellevue to visit family, we make sure there's a reason to have a white cake with whippy icing. I would rave about these cakes, and my husband would just roll his eyes. Now that he's experienced them, he asks for a Lincoln Bakery cake everytime we go to Pittsburgh. I've looked high and low for a local bakery in Maryland, but none come close to Lincoln Bakery!
A dream wedding cake

We chose Lincoln Bakery in 2003 at the suggestion of the owner of our reception hall (The Great Hall). We couldn't be more pleased with Lincoln Bakery's price, service, and delicious cake! We had a very specific design that we drew a prototype of and gave to them. They designed it EXACTLY to order down to the color of the tiny flowers on the vine design we created. Not only that, we requested fresh fruit on each layer (blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries). Lincoln Bakery gave us a much cheaper quote on the fruit than did other bakeries and they also gave us a cheaper overall cake price. The cake was amazingly moist and delectable! We received so many compliments from guests about how tasty our cake was, in addition to being beautiful. We would highly recommend them to anyone for any occasion!
- Pros: inexpensive, delicious, dependable
- Cons: none
