Whenever I travel to the Pittsburgh, I go out of my way to dine at the Red Room Cafe. It is an experience than is not easily matched in other large cities. I'm glad I found this gem. Every aspect of the dining experience exceeds my expectation, even after I've dined there many times! The staff is professional and friendly, the decor is comfortable and I feel relaxed when I'm there. Like resort, but with better food. The best part is the creativity of the drink menu. What ever your dispostion, the staff can recommend a drink to compliment your mood.
Pros: Perfect combination of style and taste. Drink Menu.
Cons: Not open for lunch

my wife and two of our friends tried the red room for the first time two weekends ago and we were truely impressed! i thought the atmoshere was incredible. low lights, great artwork on the deep red walls, and a cozy fireplace. the food totally matched the decor. it did take a little while to get our entrees but it was well worth the wait. i had a NY strip steak with a lobster sauce and some sort of cheddar mashed potatoes that paired nicely to the rich sauce.the other entrees were fantastic as well, my wife had the salmon dish which was very colorful and delicious. our frinds had the filet and chicken. i did not see much of those plates becauce the didnt want to share so can only image the were great. our server was very helpful in picking out the perfect wine to go with our dinner. of course we indulged in desert and so glad we did. i ordered what was called mini baked alaska tasting, i was three mini sized ice cream scoops with whipped egg white crust that was browned. on the bottom i found little cookies that were still warm. i am definetly going back and telling my friends that our expirence was terrific.
Pros: great dining atmoshere and outstanding food
Cons: the prices are not for everyone but still worth it

I had three amazing meals at the Red Room under the guidance of the short lived chef from the Bigelow Grille. My latest dinner was far less than stellar, I was unaware of Kevin's departure until I looked at the menu and realized that dishes I had been back for were gone. With an empty stomach and no patience to go to another restaurant, I gave it a try and boy was I sorry. I ordered the lamb dish that was enough for our whole group (four people), I mean the portion was ridiculously large. The flavor was o.k. but the meat was overdone and then covered with sauce as if I would know what an overcooked piece of meat tasted like. Our appetizer was a scallop over some sort of pancake...it was below average as well. Dessert was by far the highlight, if we were at the cheesecake factory. It was a slice of cheesecake with raspberries and powdered sugar and it was like nine dollars. If you are going to charge people extra to sit in a pretentious restaurant just because you can...then your guests will most likely be insulted like I was. I must say that our service was as good as it could be with so little pride emanating from the kitchen and management staff. Our server was pleasant and attentive without being intrusive.
Pros: Nice space
Cons: Everything else

This restaurant has a fabulous ambience - sophiticated and comfortable. The big leather couches are great for cocktails. The meals are superb. It is a nice romantic restaurant where you can enjoy dining without feeling rushed at all. The service is top-notch.

Did not know what to expect but once inside was greeted by plush decor and friendly service. Intimate atmosphere, good for personal or business dining and lounging. Food was satisfying in portion and the taste exceptional. Wasn't made to feel rushed and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive. A tad pricey but the overall experience was well worth the price.
Pros: friendly, warm atmosphere, excellent food
Cons: pricey

The hottest new spot in Pittsburgh! Great wine list, martinis and food. My top choice for dinning in the burgh!
