This was my first visit to Esspa. I can't believe I have never been here before. As much as I still adore Eva Szabo in Pittsburgh, I feel this place is SO much nicer and just better ambience in general. They sell beautiful, organic skin care. It is a gorgeous, clean, absolutely beautiful salon in a really cute part of Aspinwall. The front staff, especially Karen, were so accomodating and pleasant. Lois gave a wonderful , relaxing massage. I will be back for a massage for sure and will recommend Lois to my friends & family. The treatment rooms are so serene, clean and blissful. I can't say anything negative at all about this place.
Pros: Cute Area, Gorgeous Salon, Organic products
Cons: None

I have been to this spa many times over the course of 5-6 years. Each time the spa staff seems to get more and more rude. Not usually the girls completing the services, but the front desk staff, or the people answering the phone. Spa services should be something that is pleasant and stress free, although every time I find myself scheduling an appointment, I am stressed. Do not use their online booking option. They do not check it, and they never call you back. So you are left wondering if you have an appointment. Only to call days later to hear, "sorry we didn't get back to you, but we are all booked now, they probably did not call you back because we are booked" You should let the customer know ASAP if you can not accommodate them so that they can look to book an appointment elsewhere for the occasion. For this upcoming special weekend, I was unable to be accommodated for this exact reason, and now it is just easier to find a new spa and not deal with these issues. It is just not relaxing anymore.
Pros: Great product line
Cons: terrible customer service, very rude and unaccomodating.

My husband surprised me with a gift certificate for a mani/pedi, facial and massage. From the moment I walked in the door of ESSpa, I was amazed at the quality of service. The receptionist greeted me warmly and was very attentive to my needs. Not only did she walk with me to the seating area and take my coat, she smiled and made eye contact with me. The massage was fantastic! The perfect amount of pressure and the right amount of time was spent on each part of my body. The relaxation area in the loft is a wonderful place to pause between treatments. I felt the effects of the day well into the evening.
Pros: massage

I have been reading about the benefits of infrared saunas and was so happy to see that ESSpa got one. I have been there twice just to use the sauna and it is amazing! It is very relaxing and definitely worth trying. Also the staff is very nice and accommodating. I have also been to ESSpa for a deep tissue massage and it was great! I highly recommend ESSpa.
Pros: Sauna, great massage, nice staff

I just made my first appointment and the girl was so pleasant and answered all my newbie questions. And my online purchasing experience was great! Nice selection of gift cards, easy to navigate website and very clear and simple purchase process. The customer reviews (of the actual treatments) and photos of your spa were the two reasons I chose ESSpa over others. It helped me to feel more comfortable making the selection without yet experiencing it myself. I am really looking forward to my visit.
Pros: Attentive Staff, Atmosphere, Selection
Cons: none

At first I wasn't bothered, but thinking about it now, I am. My wife was given a $150 certificate to this place from a relative. She was very excited. Unfortunately, at the last minute she had to cancel (family issue). I understand a penalty charge - my wife even volunteered one. But no business should take the entire value of a gift card for services not rendered. I understand that ESSPa was out some profit for a last minute cancellation (assuming they would have been fully booked). However, my wife spends a lot of money on personal services, and could easily have become a lifetime client of ESSPa. Now she'll never bother going there. I hope the $150 was worth it. But the idea of a spa being cheap like this doesn't sell me on the whole "luxury" concept. If they nickel and dime on something like this, i just wonder....
Pros: Probably have decent services
Cons: Cheap

I was in the market for spa certificates for Christmas gifts, and was so excited when I read Esspa's black friday ad on their web cite. I drove across town at four am to take advantage of the "buy one get on free certificate offer". The offer should have said buy one as a gift and get one for yourself! The certificate that you purchase is a regular gift card, but the free certificate is a piece off paper that says"Black Friday Bonus Certificate." How could anyone give that as a gift? Due to medical reasons, I am unable to receive spa treatments and am now stuck with these certificates. I feel tricked. Other people stood in line for an hour in the cold at four in the morning to find out the free certificate came with many restrictions. A lady in front of me in line drove all the way to Esspa to buy certificates for her Bridesmaids in her wedding-only to find out that the free certificate expires April 1stt and her wedding was not until August. The web cite should have been specific about this promotion instead of tricking people into being there at 4am for a bogus certificate that can not be used as a Christmas gift.
Pros: Erin and Bethany are great! Erin gives the best facial I have ever had!
Cons: The staff is rude and the services are overpriced.

ESSpa has truly changed my outlook on customer service. Every single person that I met was nothing but nice to me while I was there this past Saturday, November 17th. I was greeted promptly and cordially as soon as I walked in. I was offered a cool and refreshing drink while I filled out my paperwork. I was escorted personally to the back by the young lady that would do my facial. That room in itself was the most relaxing place that I had ever been. She was very attentive to my needs, making sure at all times that I was comfortable and relaxed. My face afterwards was so smooth and soft. My skin is a little on the sensitive side, and not once did I feel that unknown burning sensation. I was then taken directly to the young lady that would be doing my manicure and pedicure. She was very friendly and talkative while not being overwhelming or pushy for information like some nail technicians can be. We went into the pedicure room and she made me feel like I was the most important person in the world, sitting on those comfortable couches. I was then taken to the wonderful massage room. The one with all of the dark purple, that was simply amazing. The woman has hands of gold. I felt every ounce of stress just drip away. The time didn’t fly by either; there was no ticking clock tracking my time. Thank you so much for creating your diamond in the rough. I had an absolutely awesome time and can not wait to spend more time with you and your attentive staff in such a relaxing and rejuvenating environment. Don surprised me with the gift of coming to spend the afternoon and it was by far the best present and surprise that I have ever received. A million thanks! ~ Chandra P
Pros: Amazing rooms, highly professional staff, no pressure
Cons: none

everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I know personaly how the employees are treated, and the only reason Scott and Eva don't know this as well is because the girls walk on egg shells and are scared to death to speak up, for fear of losing their jobs. If the truth was told about ESSPA it's a boot camp! As far as the great birthday gift... it was a gift certificate that was not used and Eva needs to realize money doesn't matter to everybody. People who are happy with their lives, and themselves dont need money nor do they try to buy others. Write back soon Scott!

I have been here before (as well as other places) but I have never experienced anything quite like yesterday. My boyfriend made all the arrangements and didn't tell me anything except that I would be picked up around 10am and I was not supposed to make any other plans for the rest of the day. So at 10 a limo picks me up and delivers me to ESSpa. They had champagne and strawberries waiting for me and showed me to the lovely (redecorated since I was there last) locker room where I changed into a fluffy white robe and slippers. The next 8 hours are a bit of a blur but by 6pm, I felt that I had been on vacation for a week. And when it was time for me to change, there was a beautiful new dress for me to change into (my boyfriend had dropped it off while i was having a facial - which, along with the my stone massage, body wrap, sugar scrub, manicure, pedicure and incredible makeup, were simply fantastic. I don't know how much he spent but whatever it was it was worth every penny. I left glowing from head to toe and have never felt or looked better. The entire staff (and I think I met everyone) from front desk to the cleaning lady was so nice and treated me like I was the only person there. I will never forget it.
Pros: Incredible, attentive staff. Ambience. Great Treatments.
Cons: Can't think of any
