Cool Vegetarian Spot, Great Food
by jmosbff
I've been to the Quiet Storm a handful of times, and was really happy with my visit today. They were serving Sunday brunch. My boyfriend and I both ordered the pear-pecan stuffed french toast. The food was DELICIOUS and came with a side of the BEST fruit bowl you'll find in the city. All the brunches were $10 with bottomless coffee tea or pop. The coffee was great! Service is just so-so, but the food makes up for it. They have a good drink menu too with coffee drinks, vegan milkshakes, and other frozen drinks. Also a small bakery area that usually has an assortment of vegan and non-vegan cookies, cupcakes, brownies and other baked goods. I would give them 5 stars but the service is not great, as I said.
- Pros: great vegetarian and vegan food, specialty coffee drinks, desserts
- Cons: unattentive servers
Avoid the Storm
by orangewestfall
Visiting from out of town, I was looking forward to vegan eating at the Quiet Storm and took two non-vegetarians to lunch with me. I was very disappointed in the food. The salsa was really strange, unlike any I've ever had, and not in a good way. The hummus tasted as though the cook had never made hummus before--pretty much like mashed chick peas. It was acceptable, but nothing more. My seitan sandwich was uninspired and so salty that I could eat only a small portion of it. Certainly not a good advertisement for vegetarianism. I ate at the East End Food Co-op the next day, and wished I had never found The Quiet Storm.
Fine food, a**holes serving it.

The food is good but too bad the staff are complete a**holes. Rude, mean, not kid friendly (as the toys and kid's books would lead you to believe). Obviously these people don't know how to keep customers. They won't be around much longer.
- Pros: ...
- Cons: Complete a**holes.
How to be a vegetarian and not realize it
by smortimer
Being a meat eater ... this place makes you easily forget about the "beef". My lunch hour is always enjoyable here. If you make it before noon, you can still have breakfast, try the QS home fries. You will not be disappointed.
- Pros: inexpense, tasty, relaxed
