This is such a fantastic museum that really catches the spirit of the artist. Fun and friendly, not to be missed.

See the white-wigged wonder in all his silk-screened glory at one of the few single-artist museums in the country.

The Scene
The Warhol, which houses many artifacts from Andy's life, is much more than paintings of Campbell's soup cans. The museum shows temporary exhibits by other artists and hosts lectures, educational programs and art happenings--including occasional bands and the ultra-swank Good Fridays happy hour.

The Collection
There are seven floors in the Warhol, with a basement cafe for post-art snacking. Floors six and seven are temporary spaces, open to the numerous exhibits the Warhol hosts every year. The third floor holds the Archives Study Center, filled to the brim with everything you need to learn anything about the white-wigged man himself. There are more than 4,000 pieces of Warhol's art in the collection, with 500 pieces displayed and rotated in the exhibit halls.

A must for art fans

by doke88

Everything, and I mean everything Andy has done is here, right down to his doodles. The average person will seem overwhelmed with it, but any person that loves art must see one of America's and Pittsburgh's best artist. Don't go on a weekday during school hours thinking it will be quiet. There are a lot of noisy kids on school trips. Tell them about the floating pillow balloons and then run the other way.

  • Pros: art
  • Cons: field trips

Friday nights!

by brcst5

Friday nights at the Warhol are usually pretty fun. There is always something going on on Friday during the summer months. The museum itself is "interesting." I like many of the exhibits, but then some, to me, are really out there. It is really worth the time to go, but it is not something that I would need to go to every year. (Maybe once every couple of years.)

  • Pros: Friday Fun, Laid Back
  • Cons: Really out there

A destination in Pittsburgh

by krispi

The place is really neat. It's the place to go in Pittsburgh. It shows works and information about Warhol that isn't broadly known...the Time Capsules and Silver Clouds are a treat. Plus, the museum has Friday night happy hour every week. Very cool.
