Featuring 11 miles of somewhat rugged trail, it's an excellent fall foliage spot for the adventurous..
The Background
The restored rolling grist mill offers a neat little glimpse into the 19th century, as does the McConnell's Mill covered bridge. The tight trails do not allow the kind of breathtaking color panoramas that Moraine State Park does, but that hardly seems to matter when you're rising to the challenge of the hike.
Features
The two trails along Slippery Rock Creek have steep terrain in many places, and the numerous rocks in the path are indeed wet and slippery. Hikers are advised to use extreme caution and to never stray from the trail. Nevertheless, those with enough spunk are definitely rewarded: The fall colors are beautiful, especially when viewed against the soothing aural backdrop of the rollicking Slippery Rock stream.
