Editorial Review for Quaker Steak & Lube – by Sam Edelmann

The Scene
Real cars and motorcycles hang from the ceiling and walls, with racing memorabilia everywhere and bar stools made of aluminum wheels. A large bar area anchors the dining room with big-screen TVs and surrounding tables and booths.

The Food
Quaker Steak & Lube has been the place for buffalo wings around Pittsburgh for years, and rightfully so. Fried crispy and doused with a selection of 14 different sauces, these wings are served hot out of the fryer, in quantities from a half-dozen to huge buckets. Lightweights should stick to the barbecue, ranch or honey-mustard versions--when ordering the famous "atomic" sauce, patrons are required to sign a waiver. A nice accompaniment to the wings is a serving of thick-cut onion rings, served around car antennas on a stand. The sleeper here is the steak sandwich, marinated and served with cheese on a garlic-toasted bun.

Insider Tips

The Extras

Pay heed when ordering the "lube-n-ade" fresh lemonade, which can be served either "unleaded" or with rum, gin and triple sec.

The lickers sauce is good but the wings are way too tiny. The menu calls them jumbo wings (not even close ). The mens room also was not very clean (actually thought it was kind of gross) . Much better and cleaner wing joints for the money. The bikes and cars hanging are cool but thats about it.

Pros: Parking

Cons: Wing sizes, beer prices

I miss this almost as much as going to Three River's Stadium!!! I only wish they'd deliver to the Lehigh Valley so I could still enjoy these awesome wings. Buffalo ain't got nothin' on the Lube.

Pros: lots of parking, cheap prices, tons of choices
