What People Are Saying About Taj Mahal Inc

The Scene – Owned and run by the Sethi family, it's on the small side, with one moderate-sized dining room. The room is bright and attractive, and tin-lined mini-woks, sitting on candles, are used to keep dishes warm at the table. – – The Food – Try the chicken chat appetizer--tandoori chicken pieces mixed with potatoes, cucumber, onions and a sweet-sour sauce. Entr?es of note include chicken tikka masala, with a tomato and cream sauce, and dishes with korma sauce, a mix of cream flavored with nutmeats and sauces to be soaked up with the great homemade breads.…

like it & Love it.

Our first trip to Taj Mahal. Few of our friends have been going on a regular basis and had invited us few times, but something always came up. Not this past weekend.

In rain and a crowd waiting to get in our first impression was to turn around and go back but curiosity got the better of us and we decided to wait.

Definately place needs expansion.

Owners serving food and bringing fresh bread ( Naan) is something i have not seen anywhere in US. They were worried if we had enough food, if everything was as expected, though the portions are so huge that me and my wife have decided not to get excited and order 5 items. ( it was enough for 10 people). We loved the family environment. A bottle of Merlot with Baked Chicken Tandoori and fresh bread is from another world. Now i know where we will be going for most of our saturdays. Also the best part !!!!! having a discussion with the owners Nephew who is a whiz kid in computers. So here was my evening in a nut shell. Best chicken, best wine and solved a Linux Server base issue.

Excellent Food

by Jojopittsburgh at Citysearch

We just moved from chicago to Pittsburgh. My both kids are nuts about Indian food.

Though there was nothing the kids liked but the owners made a special request and made special plates for Josh and Katherine.

Though they are going through a huge renovation but everything was perfect. The owners came to our table couple of times asking if things were ok.

We fully enjoyed it and will be back many a times more.

One of the best restaurants visited in a long time

by Restaurants Restaurants at Citysearch

I have been to many Indian restaurants in the area but i always end up going back to TAJ MAHAL on mcknight road.

I cannot wait for the renovation to be over and continue to enjoy the service and food. I had malai kofta and Burayyani that was from out of this world.

Keema naan was excellent with mango lassi.

5 thumbs up..

Not just a bad day

by terrief at Citysearch

I never write reviews, but this was hands down the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Our food seemed to take forever, and like the last review our daughter's food came out about 15 minutes before ours did. The service was horrible and slow. It was impossible to get our waiters attention and when we did we always had to wait awhile for what we asked for or ask again. We had to ask twice for a refill on our sodas and I guess most people don't ask since once we got the bill we realized that we were charge $1.50 for each soda, no free refills. What a rip off for a fountain drink soda.

Now for the worst part. They bring out little dishes of sauces to put on flat crispy bread. There are spoons in the the sauces, but we did just dip some things in there including my daughters chicken fingers so she could try the sauce. Once we were done we watched the waiter take these little dishes directly from our table and give them to another table that had just arrived. We watched him do this yet again with another table so so it was not a mistake but apparently a common practice at this restaurant. The place wasn't too clean to begin with, but that was just GROSS. We use to go here a lot, but it has gone incredibly downhill. LAST TIME I WILL EVER EVER GO TO THE TAJ MAHAL!

Bad service

by sadlydisap at Citysearch

We've been to this place a few times since moving to the Pittsburgh area a year ago. Being huge fans of Indian food, we will admit that it's usually pretty good. This time however, the food was dry and cold and the service was appalling.

From the moment we came in, we weren't greeted; a man pointed at a table and without a word, walked away. The waiter didn't say hello, he just came over and grunted, "what do you want." The waitress didn't fill our water or anyone else's (I watched how they were interacting with the other tables) during the entire meal, even when we asked. My meal was brought out 15 minutes before the person I was with got his....so my food was cold by the time we were both eating (since I came to the place to eat with my friend, not 15 minutes before). The plates were dirty and the glasses had brown, floaty things in them.

We're both clean-cut business men. We are well mannered and smile often; so there was not reason to be treated the way were were treated, though as I mentioned earlier, the tables around us were getting the same treatment.

A friend of ours mentioned that maybe they were having a bad day. That's fine. But don't have a bad day when we're paying for it. We will not return and will tell others of our extremely negative experience.
