When deers are confined, we’re told that the smallest deer is often bullied by the others!

Deer are wild animals. In captivity, with their instinctual needs largely (if not entirely) denied, they can develop abnormal and self-destructive behavior, including pacing, rocking, swaying, bar-biting, and self-mutilation.

Please politely urge Meder’s Nursery to take PETA up on our offer to help place these animals at a sanctuary or provide the deer with an outdoor habitat

There are two possible solutions: Meder’s can transfer the deer to a wildlife sanctuary or it can construct a proper outdoor enclosure that will allow the deer to roam, graze, and interact normally. Please stand up for animals unable to stand up for themselves–sign the petition and urge Meder’s to take immediate steps to improve the lives of its deer. PLEASE demand that Meder's create a livable habitat. We can all help and donate $ to build the habitat. I'll put up $100.00.

I have learned that Meder's Nursery keeps three deer locked up in a small windowless room almost all year round except when they are exhibited during the holiday season. I would not shop at a business that mistreats animals.

Wonderful variety. There is always something new at Meder's. They have a wonderful selection of party lights for all occasions, holidays, and just for fun. Looking for that odd wattage halogen bulb for a tree or decoration...they have it. The selection of artificial trees for Christmas is incredible and beautifully decorated too. The prices are very reasonable normally and when they are having a sale on them, the sale is terrific. I love my new Christmas tree! The selection of ornamental flags is huge. They have all branches of the military flags, Pitt, Penn State flags and even outfits for your decorative ducks. There is alot of Steelers stuff as you walk in the door. I love going to Meders and hope you will too.

Hidden in the hills, this gardening hot spot is exploding with inventory.. The Scene
Operating just south of the city, Meder's is a sprawling gardening showcase with so many products, it's bound to inspire creativity. Before you begin wandering through the grounds, pick up a coffee, cappuccino or slushie at the refreshment station near the register to enjoy along your way.

The Goods
The nursery has all the annuals, perennials and greenery that you would expect to find, but it's with their decorative garden extras that this store really shines. Displays full of flags, animal feeders, torches, wind chimes and water pumps fill the rooms. From wood-burning stoves to windmills, you can find it at Meder's.
