Best pet store is Pittsburgh. Great people. High quality food at low prices - this is very hard to find. Very nice staff, will order for you brands that they do not carry in stock e.g. Taste of the wild cat food.

All smiles here! :). Our ferrets were running out of food. Any ferret owner knows that that's a time for mild panic, especially if they own ferrets who consume mass quantities of very selective food.

After much price comparison online, we called Smiley's on a whim. When we asked them what brands of food they had, we were surprised to learn that they carried Path Valley Farm. One of our carpet sharks is a Path Valley Farm ferret, an exceptional breeder of ferrets, so we knew the brand and its good reputation. We thanked them and told them we would be in the next day to get it.

We went in and were instantly greeted by the softspoken man behind the counter. The atmosphere was clean (no smells!), quiet (a radio played soft music for the birds, but that was it), and softly lit--no glaring fluorescent bulbs.

This place is a motherlode for well-priced, high quality foods. We searched every aisle for our ferrets' food, but to no avail. Had they run out?

When we went to the counter to ask, we noticed the bag of food on the counter behind him.

"Oh, we put this aside for you when you called yesterday; it's our last bag til we reorder next week," the softspoken man said.

THEY PUT THE FOOD ASIDE FOR US. Where else are you going to get that kind of consideration?

Long story long, we love Smiley's and are going to spread the word. Our ferrets are happy, and so are we!

Amazing Service--Quality Products. The owner of this pet store and all of the employees are so friendly and helpful. If they do not carry something on a regular basis, they'll see what they can do for you and they always have a great selection of small animal items! Plus, they carry Oxbow products.

If you really care about your animals, Smiley's is for you. Superb service (if they are out of something you order regularly, they will deliver it free when it comes in) from a knowledgeable staff and a terrific owner for whom animals and their health are more important than the almighty dollar. And, surprisingly perhaps given the store's small size and personal attention, the prices are excellent (cheaper by far than buying online and adding shipping costs to slightly lower prices). This is a store to patronize. Your animals will thank you!

Surprisingly wide variety and low prices. I used to go to the big box type pet stores (mainly at the Waterfront), but ran out of dog food one morning and had to go to the nearest place I could find before going to work. I was shocked to discover that the prices were barely higher than the huge pet places, about what I saved on gas by staying close to home (time savings aside). I enjoy the sweet, but unobtrusive cats and appreciate that they carry reptile supplies. If you live on the east end, this is the place to go.

Great stuff. Smiley's is a great place to get dog food, treats, toys etc. Also cat, bird and other small animal supplies. For being a privately owned business, their prices are not that much higher than retail outlets. They take good care of their animals and have 2 (sometimes 3) great cats that live there.
