Most bars in Shadyside cater to a younger crowd. This is the only bar that does it with style. I'm not a big fan of all that hoity-toity hooplah that Shadyside bars are known for. Cappy's is kickass because it's not afraid to be itself. Hell, i go there with my ex-wife and her kids during the day and my girlfriend at night, and she's 20 years younger than i am! Each finds it accomodating, delicious and a great place to just take in the neighborhood. The thing is people are just so natural at Cappy's, like Clapton said "after midnight, we just let it all hang ooouuuuttttt...." And like my review is named (i tell this to everybody i come near in Shadyside)--BEST CHEESESTEAK IN TOWN!! There fish sandwich is good too and i the Spinach and Artichoke Dip is a pretty awesome way to start. Only possible problem is they got Bud Light on tap instead of Budweiser, a faux pas if i ever seen one. Luckily they got some inexpensive beers and some fancypants beers there too to try out--i believe new kinds every week, so that's cool. They only have a few static beers, so it's a good place to come experiment with it and not as crazy priced like the Sharp Edge or nothing. Waitresses are pretty hot; don't get a lot of my jokes, but they're nice. The bartenders seem cool. I especially like the lady who works there afternoons, she reminds me of a lady i used to know growing up, Mrs. Crenshaw. But that's beside the point. Kids in the kitchen are loud, but funny and efficient. They sometimes pop their heads out of the kitchen and deliver a one-liner that i usually write down because it's so funny. They were playing this game called "racy comics" one time, rewriting the captions in the paper. They're a laugh riot! They're probably the reason i like coming back the most. I come to Cappy's on dates sometimes JUST so i can experience their antics and hopefully be there for something funny so i can impress my dates. All in all, a pretty cool place.
Pros: Good brews, Good vibes, a good time
Cons: No Budweiser on tap

Never have I experienced such a shockingly splendid spectacle as I have at Cappy's Cafe. The lush, warm, inviting atmosphere pulled me right in as soon as I passed the threshold of the vestibule- the smell of fresh, hot, grease-free cooking. I was quickly served a heaping bowl full of delectable chicken tortilla soup. Initially, I was hesitant to try out the place, but I was pleasantly surprised, especially by the staff. The cooks were fast as lightning and equipped with a golden sense of humor that brightened up the place. After the soup, I had a med wrap, several Yuenglings, a Spring Salad, and a Devyn Delite- all fresh, crisp, and delicious. It wasn't the second-rate slavery that I'm used to seeing in such a small, bar-oriented kitchen. God bless those gentlemen! I hope they make more than 8 dollars an hour.
Pros: Good lighting, quick service, well priced food, debonair cooks
Cons: None that I can think of
