A locally owned and operated business, this deli is a haven for the Shadyside crowd.. The Scene
The bar, situated above the actual deli, is decidedly an "indoor bar." While many places brag about their outdoor seating, the Deli is the perfect place to head when the streets and skies are filled with rain or snow. The Deli's game room is comfortable, with warm colors, comfy furniture and an over-stocked beer cooler, all accented by a large selection of great scotches, tequilas and daily drink specials.

The Food
Complementing this diversity is the extensive menu of original sandwich creations--Spacey Stacey, Flying Garbonzos and Forbes Field Fantasy Frank being some of the more creatively named.

How hard is it to make a sandwich?!. Apparently, for the Pittsburgh Deli Company, it's VERY hard to make a sandwich... at least one that's edible.

My wife and I got the Veg Out and the Lil Italy, thinking they would be your typical veggie and Italian subs. We were wrong. Our buns were soggy and nasty and the ingredients did not taste fresh.

Also, my wife's vegetarian chili - a staple on the restaurant's menu - was nothing but thick tomato paste.

We will NEVER eat at Pgh Deli again, and I would never recommend it to anyone ... not even a bitter enemy.

Great Food, Horrible Service. The Deli has probably the best sandwiches around. The "Bird Thing" is awesome. The beer is rarely on special though, and it could get expensive. The crowd is usually "tough guys" who like to flirt with 16 year old waitresses.

Speaking of the waitress, she was the worst waitress I've ever had. Ever.

She took forever to take our order and even longer to bring the check. The place was dead too. We had to take the money up to pay ourselves after 30+ minutes of waiting.

I am getting it take out from now on.
