The Scene
A large, square bar takes up most of the space on the first floor, but leaves some room for tables and booths between its stained-glass windows and wood-paneled walls.

Who's There
The crowd is diverse, with upscale locals rubbing shoulders and bending elbows with restaurant workers and college students.

Where's the Beef (From)?
While Doc's is mostly known for serving drinks, it also serves food. Its Reuben sandwich uses the same bread and corned beef as the one made famous by its former neighbor, the Gazebo.

The last 2 times I was there, there was a man sitting at the bar alone who was clearly smashed. He kept ordering disgusting amounts of food and smashing it into his mouth like he was a pig. There was mayonnaise dripping down his chin, and his eyes were rolling in the back of his head. It totally ruined my dining experience as I tried not to hurl. He seemed like a regular. Their food is pretty good, and their specials make it better - just watch out for disgusting drunks! (try to get a seat in the back, away from the bar).

Doc's is such a great place! We love to go there when the deck is open.... who doesn't like a rooftop deck?? Even when it's cold they have heaters in place. The food is awesome! It's all fresh ingredients and if you haven't tried their pizza yet, your in for a surprise - - it's one of the best in the city! It's a bar like atmosphere downstairs, and upstairs has more of a restaurant feel. Just depends on your mood. Either way - it's a great place and it is a well known hang out for local residents. Plus - they have fantastic - hard to beat - happy hour specials.... All my friends and I love to go there!

Doc's Place is a great, friendly neighborhood bar. It has relatively good prices for the Shadyside area. In addition, they have high-quality spirits and plenty of beers. Highly recommended for anyone of legal age!
