Avoid for proms and special occasions if you are African American. My daughter?s biggest moment in high school, her senior prom was disastrous because of Jacqueline House of Beauty. Fist let me state that the staff is extremely kind and hospitable, offering coffee, popcorn etc. There styling abilities is outstanding, however, they simply can not work with African Hair. They had a big poster offering hair extensions. When I asked the salon stylist why they were not gluing the extensions in she replied that they only do the clip-ons and bobby pinning. I put my faith in her that they would stay in. My daughter is African American and generally I have seen the extensions either glued in or sewn onto plats (braids). However, she did assure me it would hold. We even cut the shirt of my daughter so as to not to disrupt the hair. I noticed my daughter was late when I found her on the floor in her room, in her dress in tears. The hair was falling out. Luckily a high school girl came over to the rescue and glued the hair in place to her scalp. After delaying a limo-filled crew of students and their parents my daughter was finally ready despite the tears and nerves. She said it was last min appointment. You get it the day of the event. She also said I said it was beautiful. Yes it was but it did not stay in. I have been encouraged to take her to the magistrate. The fact that she was unsympathetic and kept saying how beautiful it was, instead of offering to pay back or even apologize was very un professional. Bottom line, they do not know how to do extensions on African American hair and should recognized it is totally different to work with. They should have the proper supplies, even bobby pins are different, and/or the willingness to say they are incapable of doing different hair.
