One of a kind.
I love Groceria. It's not just Jim's smile and the way he jokes with you. It could be how clean it is (unlike Donatelli's...sorry, but it is kinda rough and stinky). My favorite thing there is the homemade pastas. Especially the ravioli. It's worth every penny. This is one store in Bloomfield that is not to be missed!
"Little Italy"'s best Italian specialty stop.. The Scene For 39 years, Groceria Italiana has been offering the ingredients for fine Italian cooking as well as the finished product. (How many places in Pittsburgh can you name off of the top of your head where you can actually watch ravioli being made by hand?) In plain view inside the store, you're welcome to stop by and watch and learn. It's a clean, bright and festive, with Italian music always playing. There are also a few small tables inside if you want to eat in. There is outdoor seating in summer. But don't go for the bench; the Bloomfield "regulars" like to hang out there. Hey, it's Bloomfield. Say hello.
The Goods Aside from Italian staples, like olive oil, sauces and pasta, they've got 16 different fresh frozen pastas, including manicotti, shells, lasagnas, gnocchi and tortellini. They make their own homemade sausage, soups and breads. Hot foods are available every day but Sunday. One of the owners, Jim Luvara, says what makes their store so unique is that they don't carry products that you'll see in the regular grocery store
