Fantastic Salon. Customer satisfaction is their number one goal. All staff are professional and care about the vision you have for your hair. I've been coming to Sognatore for years and have always had very positive experiences as I feel pampered with every color, cut and style. As an added benefit, they are always punctual and the view is great. Highly recommend!
Style Central – WOW! I couldn't be more pleased with the atmosphere, professionalism and talent that I experience at Sognatore. I have been to many different salons over the years and it's hard to find a great stylist who actually understands what your looking for and creates the style and cut of your dreams, not to mention being offered a drink of choice while waiting. I also appreciate them being educated on different ethnic types of hair. Let's be honest most stylist I have encountered haven't used the proper products in my hair to begin with. Here I know I'm getting quality hair care. Thanks Shawn Barchis for a great color, cut and style..We have our own New York salon right here in the Burgh!
Rude, pretentious people. – This place is a waste of money. They are the most pretentious people and completely overpriced. The owner should just retire. He is obviously sick of his job and should quit. He doesn't even put any effort into his work. The receptionist will lie to your face.
They don't put prices on the products they sell to try to shame customers into not asking how much they are.
News to you: There is a reason why there are many hair salons in Pittsburgh... there is a choice.
the greatest! – Fabulous! We have been going there for years! My husband and I look forward to going back time and time again. We like the staff very much, have consistently had very personable experiences, and always feel like a million bucks leaving with a personalized cut, sculpted with an artistic flair.
Cheap, Rude – This place is soooooo overrated! I decided to try out this salon because of convenience and location and dropped a pretty large chunk of change on my first visit. I wasn't overly impressed because when I arrived, I had to wait a good 20 minutes after my appointment time to be seen, it smells like cigarettes, the staff aren't professional or polite - it's more like a high school atmosphere, i.e. the girl at the front desk played on Facebook the whole time. I decided to try them again because I really wanted this location to work, and when I called to make an appointment, the front desk girl was sooooooooooooo unbelievably rude, put me on hold for 12 minutes and when she came back to the phone, she hung up! I called back and made my appointment to give them a second chance and really give this place a fair shot, and my second visit was just like the first. It smells like ass and cigarettes, everyone was pretentious and rude and again I had to wait 20-30 minutes after my appointment time to be seen. This place is way overrated, way overpriced. Save your time and money!!!!!!!
great people, great salon – love, love, love going to sognatore. I always feel like a million dollars when i leave. everybody there is super sweet and the environment is relaxing- which is important because i am there to pamper myself. i highly recommend giving them a try!!
Worth it! – I have been to many salons, well-known and unknown in my adult life...with that being said, I am very pleased to have found Sognatore! The minute I walk in your door I feel spoiled by the entire staff. With the creative magic my hair stylist performs using low lights, highlights & cut...to the longest lasting wax, I know when I leave, I look my best! I get compliments all the time so I thought it is only fair to pay forward by thanking all of you at Sognatore!! Love the view of our city from your chic 10th floor salon...you're the best and definitely worth it! Thank you!
Great View but Horrible Service – The view at Sognatore is beatiful from the 10th (or so) story of the Pennsylvanian. I went for my trial run for my wedding do a month before the big day armed with a picture of how I wanted my hair based on a test run done by my salon in the city where I live (not Pittsburgh). The guy did not listen to me at all and created some over-the-top Pittsburgh do with tons of hairspray. I got him to agree that on the wedding day, he would use way less spray and make the bun looser and lower to be more natural. I paid my $85 + ~$35 for "test makeup" and then I booked hair and make-up for 5 other people on the day of the wedding. Thankfully, I also had mom take a picture of the hairdo.
On the day of the wedding, I sat down in the chair and about 45 mins later was shown a strange version of a plastered Jackie-O french twist or something....it was nothing like the test run style and nothing like what I had requested. I was shooed away to get my make up done and while that was happening, I was told that if I wanted my hair fixed the way I wanted it, I would have to pay another $85 for another appointment! I was spending about $1,000 that day at the salon and I was the bride, and I had already spent $85 for a trial run that was apparently worthless. It was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had and it was happening right before I was getting married.
The guy eventually tried to fix it but my hair was already plastered with too much hairspray and he was acting like I was being completely irrational just because I didn't like his artistic vision. I showed him the pictures of what he did before and what my other salon had done and crabbily pulled my hair back in a hair band and stuck some pins in it. I will add that the makeup girl was great, very nice and did a great job. But the stylists/management did make any effort to be nice to me and it was way too much money for what I got. I'd try somewhere else if I ever needed a do in the 'burgh.
