I was really in the mood for a good Reuben Sandwich today. I have ordered Reuben's from Gene's on several occasions and they were really good, although it has been several months since I've ordered from here. I ordered a side of sweet potato fries also. When I went to pay for my bill, it was close to $15. Hummm....I guess the prices went up, understandable in today's economy. I asked for a new menu (This was a "to go" order and I ordered from an obviously old menu). When I got back to the office I compared the prices....The reuben went up $2.00 and instead of an up charge of fifty cents for the fries, there was an up charge of $1.50. Looking at the menu deeper, I noticed that the charge for "Cajan Seasoning" went from .50 to $1.....really?????? A dollar for some seasonings....ridiculous!! But, let's get to the meal.....I was not impressed....for $15 I could have gotten a much tastier meal. The meat was tough, the bread overly toasted...and it tasted like the bread was toasted using an oil rather than butter/margarine. I was not impressed with the sauce either and could hardly see the swiss cheese. Yes, the sandwich was BIG....but the taste was not worth it. Sorry Gene's....you messed up this order....
Won't give it any chance!!!!!!. I will never return to this establishment. It had the worse service, and the food was disgusting! This place must be a "Last Chance" in choosing a restaurant. Old and seedy looking.....I advise you to go elsewhere! My friend and I were working in the area..stopped in , and were not happy at all. Neither of us would return or recomend this place!
Didnt care for it. I went there for lunch I work up the street I dont care for this place..The servers were friendly I wasnt seated for like 10 minutes and on a lunch hour every minute counts!! I tried the rueben sandwich and didnt care for it the in fact I returned it..it had a smell to it. The salads are ok but all in all I didnt like it.
great wings and ruebens.
the wings are great cheesy garlic, bbq, etc
ruebens are great they are just my size...very large
Huge Reuben. This restaurant has the best reuben sandwich I've ever had. It had an entire pound of corned beef! Unfortunately, I went pretty late, so the dining room was closed. It was karaoke night, and it was very loud.
Not a fan. I am not a big fan of this restaurant. The food is not that good and the dining room is average. I get the feel of being in a banquet hall for lunch/dinner. It is also horrible that you have to walk through the bar (yummy... smoke - yuck) to get to your food. The best part about this place is the fact you can eat outside.
