40.442431 -79.997198Worst ever. It took 30 minutes just for someone to say hello and offer me coffee. And they weren't busy, plus they had several employees just walking !round in circles. The coffee was horrible! It then took another 15 min. To get my breakfast after i ordered it. It was horrible also: ordered my eggs over easy, they were hard cooked, Sausage was cold, no jelly for toast, and the homefries had a nasty taste like they used rotten potatoes.
Don't bother!. Pittsburgh needs to catch up to the cooler cities, its way behind the times. Make every place non smoking and maybe it might see some happening nightlife instead of trashy smoking blue collar crowd!
Good for the owner.
For standing up to this silly ban.
The thing that EVERYONE seems to be missing, including those business owners who support the smoking ban, is that those who have customers who want to are perfectly free to make their establishment smoke free. As for the healthier, I think it is being over sold. Breathing bus exhaust while walking downtown is just as bad for you.
Disliking stinky clothes after a night out on the town is not a reason for legislation. Because the smell is less than appealing is not an appropriate reason for legislation. There are plenty of non-smoking options out there, and if the business owners were left to make decisions based on their customers demands, there will be more. Just support the non-smoking establishments if you dislike smoking. Leave the courts out of it. Good for him for standing up to being pushed around when it comes to what he should do with his business.
That debate aside, I like this place, I think it has a friendly atmosphere and decent food.
Stay away.... The owned of the Smithfield Cafe also owns Jamie's in Dormont. Don't support his businesses. I agree with the prior poster - Mr. Petrolias does not care about the health of his patrons and he has stooped to the level of collaborating with RJ Reynolds.
Avoid this establishment.
The Smithfield Cafe has R.J. Reynolds paying for their challenge of the INEVITABLE Pittsburgh smoking ban. They don't care about your health or their employees health or the health of thousands of workers and patrons of bars and restaurants in the Pittsburgh area.
Avoid this establishment to send a clear message: we don't want big tobacco companies determining OUR LOCAL politics.
FOOD IS JUST OK, ATMOSPHERE IS REALLY BAD. FAIR QUALITY OF FOOD HOWEVER THE PLACE REEKED OF CIGARETTE SMOKE, WE WILL NOT RETURN UNLESS THEY CHANGE THEIR POLICY AND ACCOMIDATE SMOKE FREE AREAS.
