Best espresso outside of Italy!
by taormina
This is the real thing. If you are looking for dessert-like coffee drinks SB has you covered...but if you are a real coffee drinker OMG!...La Prima is the best. Even local restaurants will tell you La Prima is the better than what they can provide. It has a "mom & pop" feel and a very relaxed atmoshere. Their prices are amazing. They get two thumbs up for doing it right! Their double shots are just that...not watered down. A perfect espresso and capuccino every time. Parking can be difficult but this cafe with it's adjoining pastry shop has great old world charm and bistro style seating outside. If you find yourself in the Strip District La Prima is definitely worth the stop.
- Pros: Good prices and the best espresso outside of Italy!
- Cons: Parking on the street can be difficult sometimes.
The basics done like in Italy

Not your Seattle-clone-coffeehouse with overroasted beans and stuffed chairs. This is a dive right out of the Spanish Steps neighborhood where the language is broken English, the tables are standup and the newspaper of choice is La Stampa. Best of all, no frou frou drinks, just solid espresso, cappuccinos (and none bigger than 8oz thank you - that would be a latte) and real macchiatos. The espresso mix does have robusta beans, so the crema is rich and the taste will be different than what you SBUX/Caribou folks are used to.
- Pros: service, taste, atmosphere
- Cons: none
