Dana is not only an incredible designer and artist but she truly cares about each and everyone of her customers as if your more a friend than a client. They also treat sumone thats spending 200 bucks the same as sumone spending 20,000.dollars. This job is this womans life, she dedicate dherself to her family business since she was 15yrs old and loves what she does.
Absolutely the best Jeweler in the Pittsburgh area. My mother has gone here for everything that she has + for everything that she gets for the family. For me living in Baltimore now, when I come home I make a special trip down to these guys to get all of my jewelery taken care of. They created my wedding rings and everything. Very creative and caring people. Definitely would recommend them to anyone that needs something done.
Dana was a fantastic help and very patient, as I was very particular while shopping for an engagement ring. Ira did a great job working my vague, but picky, requests. The result was a great ring that my fiancee and I both love. I've already recommended Helfer's to my friends, and will continue to use them in the future.

True artisans and extraordinary craftsmanship. I got more than what I expected. This is the jeweler's jeweler. No frills shop but the most incredibly, beautifully crafted custom jewelers. They can do anything.
im a jeweler there my jeweler – Ive have known the Helfer family for over 30yrs as well as have been in the jewelry business for just as long. I stop by Helfers 3 times a week to drop off and pick up jobs because i do not have a full fledge shop and wouldnt take or trust my customers jewelry with anyone else but them. I can understand how it may have seemed to the customer that wrote the prior review but thats not at all what happened and i was there I have nothing to gain by writing this either, just maybe more customers if they chose not to go to Helfers which would be a huge mistake, they are the sweetest most honest family, and they know what there doing. First of all everyone is human and mistakes happen, and it was very unfortunate that it did to these people. But heres the real story. These people lived kinda far and wanted to make one trip to get there ring that day,which can be done. Usually custmers have an appt. and some idea of what they are looking for, these people did not which again is ok, but since Helfers dont usually stock diamonds, they get an idea of what customers looking for in there budget and then get them stones sometimes right away while u wait but for the most part theres usually some communication first. So this was a walk in which there always honored to have because there are so many stores to choose from. They really wanted to get the sale and everything for him that day. So there were several trips made stating from i think a 1.5ct princess and ending up with .70ct round also trying to found a mounting and setting to accomodate totaling 6hrs straight they worked with them. They also had a budget they needed to stay within which they were given a phenomenal price. In the end through the several trips they must of gotten them at least 20 diamonds by the end. THere happen to be two diamonds that day were identical in size and to the naked eye appearence wise, identical looking, but one was lazer inscribed and from a better certification company so it was 800$ more. That was not the diamond the chose because of the budget. They did choose the other and they were given a certificate which was for a d color stone ,no lazer inscription. a couple days later when they started returning the diamonds realizing there was some kind of mistake but really not knowing what had happen or where the mistake was. They then recieved a phone call from the customer About sizing in which Dana asked them to come in to figure if and were the problem was which she shouldve explained better to the customer. Dana had consulted me with tears in her eyes, thus me knowing this whole story . Her goal was to make sure the customer had the correct stone in the ring with the certification they were given. Apparently the customers knew they had a different stone then they bought because they took it somewhere that told them it was lazer inscribed. The Helfers felt horrible but wanted to give them what they purchased and or the choice of the diamond with the lazer inscription which of course they chose,it was a better diamond with 10power magnification so right there they got an $800 more diamond because of there mistake on top of giving them a store credit for the matching wedding band which was 1000$ also. In the end the customer was happy. Helfers lost some money for there mistake but hopefully no customers, and also learned valuble lessons and will approach things differently. It was a very unfortunate mistake and theyve been in business for over 70yrs. I hate to say it but every jeweler big or small has had something like this happen including myself , and thats why i wrote this, Helfers are the best and make u feel like family and i dont think theyve ever had a one time customer because once u get something u always go back. Luv ya guys hope u appreciate me writing this i want a discount next time im in lol........
Save yourself a nightmare! – When my brother asked me to help him shop for an engagement ring, I did a google search & this store got excellent reviews so we decided to check it out. Our shopping experience was a little unorthodox and a LOT disorganized, but the staff was very friendly and we left with a beautiful ring. Of course, she said yes! About two weeks after the purchase, my brother received a call from Dana explaining there was a problem with the diamond certificate and that they'd have to come back in to get it straightened out. To make a VERY long story short - the Helfer family switched out the diamond that was originally purchased and then lied about it....too bad my future sister-in-law had gone to another store & had them write down the laser inscribed number on the original diamond!!!!!! If the Dana & the others had been truthful in the first place and explained that it was an honest mistake, I would not be writing this review. Unfortunately, everyone is left with hurt feelings - especially me since I'm the one who suggested we try this store! I guess our attorney's feelings won't be hurt since he'll get some business........ I could cry! This is supposed to be a happy time!!!!
Great Service and Exactly What I Wanted – I was referred to Dana by a coworker and was extremely pleased with my ring and the service.
I had simply brought in a picture of a ring I found online, described the changes I wanted made and they were able to create it from scratch. The steps we went through to get it done were appropriate and made me feel sure I knew what I was getting. Once the ring was made Dana inspected the diamonds on the Halo and wasn't happy with the quality of a couple of them and instead of passing them off and hoping I didn't notice she went and got new ones to replace them with no charge to me. Also, this ring they made for me was about half the price of the one I was looking at online.
This is a family jeweler who does custom work right there in their office. From the front counter I can see back into their workshop. I appreciate this but the downside is that this office is more workshop then jewelry store. You have to know what you want when you go in as there is nothing to browse in cases but they do have samples and stones to get you going in the right direction.
AWFUL SERVICE!! NOT WORTH THE PRICE! – While the prices were good, the service was not worth it. I would rather pay more then to go back. I went to get my ring resized and they gave it back to me with scratched all over it. Every time I was there I was ignored and treated like a burden. They are rude people and I won't go back!!

Unique and More Beautiful than Imagined – My fiance originally went to the Clark building to visit another jeweler. However, they were closing and were no longer doing custom work. They referred us to Helfer Jewelry - and we are very thankful.
We already had diamonds - one from my great grandmother's engagement ring and five single cuts from her grandmother's wedding band. We wanted to combine them in her ring.
First of all, the store isn't like the rest of the jewelry stores in the Clark building with nice fancy showcases. This is a family company - and that feeling was great.
Dana greeted us and helped us from finish to start. She provided the option that we had, and, after the work was started, she called me a couple times to update me on the direction that we had to take.
The end product was absolutely beautiful. My fiance was, and still is, impressed with the work and beauty. It is more beautiful that she imagined it would be.
We have a jeweler for life now and will be returning to have our wedding bands made.
Thank you to Dana, David and Ira for creating a ring that automatically became a family heirloom...we will be seeing you again soon!
