My Favorite Steak.
I have been to most of the "great" steakhouses that this country has to offer. Yes, there are a few I like over Ruth Chris, but I truly feel they CONSISTENTLY cook the best steak.

Love the Experience.
My husband and I go to Ruth's Chris once overy 2 months and are never dissapointed. The atmosphere is the best and the steaks are better.
I usually get the petit filet with blackened shrimp along with a glass of red wine. The steak is always flawless and the service is consistent. I highly recommend for anyone looking to splurge a bit for some solid food.

Absolutely delicious!.
My husband took me there for my birthday, and the meal was perfect. The steaks were phenomenal, and so hot and juicy. The service was very attentive and I was very pleased with the whole experience. I also had a pomegranate
martini, and they really knock you on your butt, so only have one or two. I had three! Well, it was my birthday after all. This place is a great place for a celebration. I'm going on my birthday next year for sure.

Favorite Restaurant EVER!.
I go every year, several times a year, because I cannot get enough. The steaks are perfect, the sweet potato casserole is to die for, & they have the best ranch dressing in the world.

Very nice experience.
My husband and I went to Ruth Chris' for Valentines dinner and had an overall very nice experience. We sat at the bar for an hour (yummy chocolate martinis) before dinner. I had the Filet and he had the Cowboy Ribeye. We were both very happy with our dinners and had a wonderful server whose name escapes me at the moment. This was our first visit to Ruth Chris and I am sure we will be back. The overall bill with our bar tab was quite pricey, but worth it for a wonderful evening in our opinion. As much as I enjoyed dining here I would still have to give the upper hand to The Capital Grille. This is my favorite of all the steakhouses in Pittsburgh.

The last high end steak house in Pittsburgh I had yet to visit. I unknowingly saved the best for last..
The last high end steak house in Pittsburgh I had yet to visit. I unknowingly saved the best for last.
I was reading this site post-dinner with no intention of adding a review but had to write a counter to what obviously are either people that haven't actually been there or employees of the other steak establishments.
Parking is perfectly located beside the restaurant. The square of PPG plaza was nothing short of perfect as there were ice skaters creating a mini Rockefeller Center feel. We arrived 20 minutes early and were immediately taken to our seats to my surprise as the restaurant was at capacity.
The atmosphere was crowded but very nice, not loud in the least and still very high end in feel. The wait staff was numerous and didn't seem to take a breath in attempt to please the diner. Our waitress was very informative, pleasant, and talkative but not to an annoying extent. She made frequent stops to check on us.
For an app I had the blackened scallops in pesto, wonderful. My wife had their lobster bisque (one of her favorites) and was very pleased by it. For the the main course I had the T-Bone and my wife the Surf and Turf with a petite filet, both medium rare. Both steaks were cooked exactly as ordered and both were able to be cut with a fork. Contrary to other writings the butter is minimal, more for effect while adding a very light flavor. My wife's Lobster was served butterflied with a crab cake and both were wonderful as I tried a bite of each. This is a steak house that does everything perfectly.
We shared a chocolate duo dish made in house that was a perfect end to our meal.
I can't say anything negetive at all from the atmosphere, to the service, to the drinks and food. I've rarely enjoyed a meal as much as this one.
Five stars plus for a chain that really takes pride in preserving the name and reputation that is well deserved.
How Mortons and Pittsburgh Rare are better, I don't know.

Sophisticated American chain serves up corn-fed USDA prime cuts and New Orleans-style appetizers and sides..
In Short
This offshoot of a popular New Orleans hangout for politicians features decor of dark woods and comfortable booths, with a separate bar scene. Choice cuts of custom-aged beef arrive in sizzling butter on 500-degree plates. The menu also offers chicken, pork and seafood entrees along with Creole appetizers like shrimp remoulade. Family-style sides include gargantuan onion rings, creamed spinach and various styles of potatoes. Traditional homemade desserts like cheesecake and bread pudding conclude the meal.

Thumb's down.
I was EXTREMELY disappointed with our visit to this restaurant. Everyone had talked it up, claiming it to be the best steakhouse in the 'Burgh. I disagree completely. I made our reservation online. They ask on there if it's for a special occasion. It was our anniversary dinner. We were greeted and they did say happy anniversary to us, which was nice. But then they seated us in the middle of a bench seat. There was no ambience or privacy. It was our anniversary, so my husband had gotten me a gift. It was really awkward opening it with strangers sitting right next to me. The food was just ok. I expected a lot better for what we paid. I got the NY strip, which is my favorite cut. It didn't have the famous butter on it, I don't know if they just forgot. Then there's the well-advertised hot plate that the steak comes out on. I ordered my steak medium, so I expected some juices to run. But, with the plate being so hot, it kind of cooked the juices to a disgusting gray color. It wasn't very appetizing to see my steak floating in a gray puddle of meat juices. I would much rather go to Mantini's in the South Side for an awesome steak (and for almost half the price).

Not a "Fine dinning experience".
Our first experience with RCSH was in Annapolis, MA. It was all you could ask for in fine dinning and more quiet setting, excellent service (pleasant talkative staff) and fine food. This RCSH in PITTS is just that the pitts! The only good thing was the New York Strip steak. It started with the door the greeting staff stay in their little space with the computter, two and three young women. The waiting area was crowded and I had to push my way to these women (even after making eye contact no one came to me) and ask about our reservation, she directed us to the lounge (bar) to wait. This was a smoking area we did not know that and had to move out of the area (in OH there is no smoking anywhere). At our table we were packed in so close you could not help hearing the table next to you. It was so nosiey that you had to shout to be heard by the person across the table from you. I was in a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant the night before that was full but the noise level was nothing compared to RCSH. The side dishes were not prepared the same as in Annapolis, the cream sauce was not thickend properly on my potatoes. This was a disappointment for us and we will not return but go back up the street to The Carlton.

poor service, disgusting food..
I went there hoping for an exceptional evening. I left more than disgusted. The staff can be downright rude. I had a reservation and still had to wait 20 minutes for a table. No word of apology was given for the delay. Once seated it was another 10 minutes before a waiter appeared and they seemed more interested in other tables around us. I noticed that when a tray of steaks were served to a large tabel that instead of bringing them out on either a larger tray or using 2 servers to help, the actually PILED THE STEAKS ON TOP OF EACH OTHER so that the bottom of the plate was making contact with a steak that was going to be served to someone. This did VERY little for my appetite. The steaks were covered in butter which does nothing for the taste except ADD more grease. In a good steak there is ENOUGH fat to make it taste good.
I will NOT be returning
