Quirky and Delicious. My husband and I were in Pittsburgh over the weekend checking out graduate schools. We stopped in a convenient store on our walk back from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. After two days of exquisite and expensive meals, Primanti Bros. came recommended to us by a police officer who was in the convenient store. When he told us about Primanti and the sandwiches I thought he was joking, but now I want to thank him. The entire experience was unique from the atmosphere to the mound of sweet and sour coleslaw and crispy french fries that was piled on my corned beef sandwich. I am happy that we didn't order any sides because the sandwiches themselves were huge. My husband finished his AND mine. The flavors were an odd combination, but odd in a good way. They are not at all what you would expect, but they work really well together. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a quick meal before the big game.

Primanti's is Pittsburgh. Primanti's fries and slaw on a sandwich embodies the true nature of Pittsburgh's low class population. It is a delicious low class treat that anyone would love!

Pittsburgh's signature sandwich shop.. The Scene
This 24/7 landmark is where you'll find all the native club-goers before they hit the party scene and the night-owls who hit it for after hours. The service is efficient and friendly, reflective of the town they truly represent.

The Menu
The Primanti way of making a sandwich may not be famous world-wide, but it's certainly known citywide. Served on wax paper, meat, french fries, tomato, and cole slaw are stuffed between two slices of Italian bread. The beauty lies in the simplicity. They call it a sandwich, but it goes down like a meal. The cheese steak, which is actually a burger, not shaved steak, is listed as "the No. 2 favorite." What's No.1? "Beer," said a cook incredulously. Vegetarian? How about a triple grilled cheese? The hot sausage, bratwurst and egg sandwiches are also great craving killers.

Overrated. Lots of bread, lots of fries, little meat, bad calories
