Real Italian Pizza "Made by real Italians". Only one of the reviewers got it right. This shop is on 5th ave near Mercy Hospital. It is one of the few Pizza shops left that is owned by Real Italian people. They sell Pizza and Hoagies. Probably the best near town. The owner's are straight shooters. Dont mess with these people the locals love em.

If you want real Italian pizza made by REAL ITALIANS call Giovanni's on 5th

Amazing hoagies/breadtwists Decent Service, quick delivery. So I got a flyer for this restraunt in the mail and since i'm new in the Pittsburgh area I figured I would give them a try. I've ordered from them 3 times now. The service over the phone on the first order was a little lack luster, mostly cause they asked for alot of information I didn't understand why they needed(was hard for me to convince the guy on the other end of the phone that I didn't have a home phone, just a cell phone). However, the food arrived in 35 minutes of the told 45 minute waiting time, and the delivery man was pleasant and very thankful for the 15% tip. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana hoagie and a pepperoni Breadtwist. Maybe i'm not used to good italian food, but this was amazing. The hoagie(I got a whole) was loaded with chicken/cheese/sauce and was delicious. The pepperoni bread twist was even better, with marinara and garlic dipping sauce. I also understand why they got so much information from me on the first call, as the second time I called back and gave them my cell number they were polite, called me by name, and already had my address on file. I've ordered various hoggies, buffalo chicken/chicken/cheeseburger, and they have all been an ample amount of food, and very tasty. It seems like every time I order, the custom service gets better(maybe they like repeated customers). Since arriving it pittsburgh I've tried a variety of italian restraunts/order out and this place is truly something special. Thumbs up!

Help swears at you if you complain. Ordered a delivery. Wife told them NO (twice) ONIONS on the ham & cheese hoagie. I'm allergic to them. It came fully loaded with onions. Wife called them back to let them know. Maker's response? "Impossible, I made that damned sub myself!" Nice. Just the kind of customer service we like. Now I understand why these people can't go anywhere. We live in a highrise & you can be sure we're passing the word. LOSERS!!!

Excellent pizza and other great deals; the neighborhood--not so great. I haven't a clue what the other user is saying; Giovanni's sits right on the stretch of 5th Ave. between Pitt and Duquesne, right down the hill from Washington Plaza. In any case, I think their pizza tastes amazing, carrying the right mixture of sauce, cheese, crust and herbs. If you're not in the mood for pizza, then they also have great deals for subs, gyros and what have you. They've got all the beer you could want (heck, they're so close to the colleges that it'd be a crime not to), and it's not the least bit pricey. In fact, the only downside to Giovanni's is its location, as it's not the best of neighborhoods. If you're looking for a great pizza place along 5th, however, Giovanni's ought to satisfy your craving.

Excellent thin crust pizza!. This pizza place is actually on 6th Avenue downtown near the Renaissance Marriott Hotel. Excellent thin crust pizza! Great sauce! Only drawback is no liquor license and the place is a bit small.
