Tips for Perla's Appliances Plus

January 05, 2013

We purchased a GE refrigerator from Perla on 7/28/12. It was installed on 11/16/12. Upon its arrival there were two burned out light bulbs. We were ok with that because Rocky did tell us that it was a floor model, and Perla did replace the bulbs. About two days later we realized that one of the doors on our side by side refrigerator was making a noise. We called Perla and because it was less than a year old they said we had to call GE, so we did. While placing the service call with GE we found out the the refrigerator was purchased by Perla in January 2008. Yes, our purchase was already FOUR YEARS old soon to be FIVE. We called Perla and spoke to Rocky and asked him if he knew that the floor model that he sold us was four years old. He said "no", and that he has no knowledge of the age of the appliances he purchases through a distributor. Additionally, he was rude over the phone. To make a long story short we got no satisfaction from Perla. Perhaps it's ignorance on our part, but we would not expect that an appliance would be a floor model for four and a half years. We feel like Perla was not honest in disclosing the age of their equipment. The four hundred dollar discount we received by purchasing a floor model does not correlate to the age of the equipment. Our receipt reflects an original price of $1799, and we purchased the appliance for $1399. The fact that the appliance is still under warranty is not much comfort either since GE service has cancelled our service appointments 3 times over the last month and a half and we're still waiting to have the problem addressed.

Buyer beware. As expressed in other reviews here, there's little to no recourse with Perla. We wanted to give our full kitchen appliance contract to a small, locally owned company, but unfortunately we got burned. Lesson learned - with the big boxes, you'll have recourse.

Buyers beware. I made a purchase at the store and was treated extremely well when I paid almost $2k in cash, but when it came to service, I was treated like the 'red headed stepchild' because they could not fix the problem. Due to the problem being sporadic, I was advised that I made unclaimed/unwarranted service calls. As a result of it all, due to their power over me and their unwillingness to try to replicate and fix the problem, they terminated my warranty that had almost 3 year remaining. I spoke to one of the owners and asked for a prorated amount back for the washer and dryer so that I may purchase another from another store and a warranty. I was flatly denied and advised of 30 days policy. My question is, isn't this an exception to the policy since my warranty was unjustly terminated. Aren't there exceptions to rules? The scary part is that they have an F rating at the BBB and GE allows them to represent them and their products in a negative light. If you want superior product and service, you'd better think twice before making a purchase at their store. Just to add insult to injury, this is the 3rd, yes, 3rd chance that I gave their store. People that I spoke with went to their store and advised that they did not like what was portrayed by their staff......rude, unprofessional and 'standoffish' was what I was told. Think twice before entering the store! Now I have to endure a long battle in trying to get a fair shake and some justice with this matter. Being a working mom and dealing with the challenges of a child with disabilities, making it through the day-to-day with family and work challenges, and most important, being on a fixed income (as we all are) this is something that should not have been. They should have stood behind the product and if they could not fix it, then it should have been replaced.

would purchase from Perla's again. My experience was pleasant for the most part. We had one concern and I think that communications got mixed. My husband dealt with that. I am enjoying my Bosch appliances and would purchase from Perla's again.

good service!. My refrigerator died on a hot evening. We went early next morning to Perla's. I was shown several very nice models and chose a stainless French door model with bottom freezer, on Sale! The delivery truck arrived before we even got home, but came back and installed it that afternoon. Now, that's good service! Thanks

They were courteous and cleaned up afterward. My old over the stove microwave was extremely difficult. Your personnel spent a long time getting it out and putting the new microwave in.. They were courteous and cleaned up afterward. I was pleased I bought my microwave and had it installed by Perla.
