home away from home. Forwardlanes is my home away from home. It's a beautifully maintained local alley. I love the owners. Reasonably priced beer and food. Great selection of house bowling balls, comprised of dozens of donated balls that are much nicer than the average house balls.

Fantastic Experience. Ever since I started going to college in Pittsburgh i've been a devoted patron of Forward Lanes. They have inexpensive prices, a great staff, and an unbeatable atmosphere. Highly recommended.

An intimate, 17-lane, urban bowling alley.. The Scene
Sporting a late '50s, early '60s decor with blue-and-white plastic benches, gold-and-white ceiling boards, blue ceiling poles and '50s-style wall advertisements, Forward Lanes isn't your average bowling alley.

The Skinny
The alley's few recent touches, such as a new scoring system, chairs and tables with canopies, fit in well. The lanes and house balls are in good condition. The streamlined ball return and pin reset mechanism work fine; it's nice to know that this attractive yet aging apparatus is still in working order. Beer and snacks are sold at the small snack bar, another endearing small touch. Be aware that balls return quickly to the runway.
