great pizza. I heard Troy Polamalu got engaged here, so I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed -- both the pizza and atmosphere were excellent. I would definitely recommend it.
Great pie, nice people. Mineos pizza is exceptional and the staff is friendly. Its not as clean or as organized as Aiello's, but their staff is more respectful and gracious.
GREAT!!. WHEN I LIVED IN THE BURGH, MINEO'S WAS THE PLACE TO BE FOR PIZZA. SOME MAY NOT LIKE THE WAY IT'S PREPARED, BUT I DO. IT'S A MATTER OF TASTE. TO ME, IT'S THE BEST.
Italian pizza? Not at all..
Being an Italian who just moved to Pittsburgh 4 months ago I was suggested by some friends of mine to go to Mineo's pizza in order to get a real pizza, italian style.
Unfortunately I have to admit that Mineo's pizza has nothing to do with Italian pizza. The dough was way too greasy and too thick, as usual in the American style. The mozzarella was tasteless and the amount of it was absurd. The tomato sauce had no salt or spices.
I don't want to sound too judgmental, but Mineo's pizza is just like any other pizza in the States. At least they should not say they make Italian pizza.
By the way, I prefer Aiello's pizza.
The pizza from Mineo's in Mt. Lebanon is the best I've ever had in Pittsburgh. I've been living here for two years and have enjoyed some from across the city, but this classic place takes the cake!
The white pizza is phenomenal and their cheese is such high quality. The pizzas were so thick and the crusts were perfection.
It was hot and incredibly fresh, and they were courteous even though they were incredibly busy on a Friday night.
THE PIZZA OF THE GODS. BEYOND WORDS ! GASTRIC ORGASM! CHEESY .PLEASY ... SO GOOD YOU WILL SLAP YOUR MAMA ,YOUR MAMAS ,MAMA , AND YOUR DADDY....
A great neighborhood pizza.
Good pizza places seem to provoke ratings that are either excellent or terrible. I happen to think that, in this neighborhood, Mineo's makes a truly great pizza .
Of course, you have to enjoy lots of cheese and a nice yeasty crust, plus fresh vegetables. Not everyone does. This is not a New York pizza nor is it an Italian one, or even a gourmet creation. And thank god it's not a British one. But hey, you know where to find those...
For the record, Mineo's has the best pizza on the street though Aiello's comes very close. Napoli is meh and Lucci's is inedible.
Also, if I have to read one more review that extols New Haven I will not be responsible for my actions. Just move there, already, and leave us alone. Jeez.
Mineos pizza. I used to go to Mineos a lot, I thought the pizza was the best ever. Lately it has really gone down hill. I paid $28.00 for a burnt pizza!!! Never again. Recently I found a pizza shop in Sewickly, family owned, they make their own sausage, yum-yum. Their pizza is greatttt, a must try. Tony R's pizza, you will never be disappointed. Personally I will never go to Mineos again.
Overrated and Overpriced. I checked this place out at the recommendation of numerous people on a quest to find a delicious pie in the burgh. Having grown up outside of New Haven, CT I was privileged to have a lot of excellent pizza options. Mineo's just does not live up to the billing. The fact that it has won so many awards is troubling. I am now worried about the quality of pizza I will most likely not be able to find in the area. The pizza itself is decent, and I did like the very unique flavor of the crust, but the volume of the cheese is too overwhelming. Overall, its not bad, just not fantastic. Plus $18 for a large before toppings... no thanks.
Great Pizza. Great pizza! Excellant crust and the sauce will make you cream in your jeans. The only thing is I can't figure out the protocol for cleaning off your table. Do you do it yourself or do you leave the scrappings on the table..I don't know, but what I do know is this.. At least you do not have to rehash your order like most Pittsburgh eaterys.
