Exceptional Experience.
The first time I experienced Gulliftys dessert was at the Food Show in the Convention Center this year. We went to Gulliftys to see if the menu was equal to the desserts. It was. The food service and value was perfect. The Reuben was great my friend had the Chicken parmesan we both had the Oreo Cheese Cake.

New owners have ruined it.
I totally agree with the other critics regarding the food and service. Since new owners have taken over the food is bland and the desserts are frozen and tasteless. Our server was the worst ever, we think she might have been one of the owners but we didn't ask, we just wanted out. Will never return again!

Simply horrible....
I've lived in Pittsburgh my whole life, and I have tried Gullifty's a few times. It's absolutely horrible!! The dessert tastes like a Sara Lee frozen cake. It's dry and tasteless. The food is completely bland. Everything is OVERPRICED. And despite our server being nice, the service was really slow for a not so busy weekday night. Again, all the good reviews and awards in Pittsburgh couldn't make those desserts appetizing.

service and drinks are bad.
Get this, 6 of us went there for drinks to celebrate a new born in the family. The reason we went there was because we heard it's never busy and we wanted to talk. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks from a bartender who seemed more interested in watching south park on tv with a man reading a book and the staff from the back. Our drinks were really bad, expensive and south park was basically to loud and not what any of us wanted to talk over. We decided to get our check and go down the street, it took another 15 mins to get the check. 6 drinks $70.00 never again. We went to the Murray Avenue Grill to talk drink and eat

Don't go to gulliftys unless you get there early, they now close at 10:something.
My husband and I went there for the first time on a Thursday night, we are new to Pittsburgh and wanted to get a late night bite to eat. The sign outside reads open till 12:00 we arrived at 11:20 the manager told us they were closed. I asked why does the sign say till 12:00 she told us that was from the old owner and things have changed. We did not argue we went to eat and park and had a bite there.

Made me gag.
Worst place in Pittsburgh for food and drink. The service is on par with a drive-up window at 1:59 am. Cake tasted old and frozen, martini was $13.00. Give me a break. First time and last time!

service and food has gone to the dogs.
Service and food has gone to the dogs. We went for dinner a few weeks ago on a Tuesday night for a jazz show we were invited to by one of the musicians playing. Our food was horrible and we could only order one drink do to the lack of finding a server. We talked to 20 friends that were very upset also. We were there for 3 hours and could only order 1 drink from our server. I had to walk into the bar to get a drink and then I had to pay for it there.
The new manager on music nights could care less, what a shame.

No award here..
Cheesecake was raw and the chocolate cake cake tasted like dish soap that had been frozen. Our server said they have new bakers who only work 2 days a week.

Bad food, bad desserts and the service is port authority>slow and over paid..
You would think after they had a fire and were closed for two weeks they would have decided to improve the place. Wrong!!! We went for dinner after being told never to eat there. The food is terrible and the desserts are just as bad. We had the worst service and the restrooms stink to no end. Next time we will take the extra time and go to the cheesecake factory.

They send you down the street to eat, great business mind's at work here. Go out the front door and walk 2 blocks, wow!!.
We came to Pittsburgh on a USAIR flight from Miami. A passenger on the flight over heard us talking about going out to get a late bite and have some drinks. He told us that Gullifty's would be open until around 11:00 pm. Prior to checking in at the hotel, we took the cab straight to what would be the restaurant from hell. We arrived at 10:05 to be told by a young lady(manager) that the only food we could get would be dessert. Upon asking why only dessert, she said that she had sent all the cooks home and she would be dammed if she was going to cook for us. My husband, friends and I were taking back a few steps by her brash statement. This was the welcome that we got in Pittsburgh at the restaurant that has a sign on the front of the building that states open until midnight. My husband walked into the bar area to see a cook walk out of the kitchen area and tell the bartender his food was ready. The cook then light up a cigarette and sat at the bar to watch the TV. My husband asked the bartender if we could eat in the bar area. His immediate reply was, "go down the street if you want to eat". Well, we did go down the street to a nice little grille and had a great meal with drinks. Our total bill was $180.00 4 meals and way to many martinis. We told our waiter the story about what happened at Gullifty's, he laughed and said that he gets 20-30 customers every week with the same story. He said it puts about an extra $200.00 in his pocket every week.
