Editorial Review for Jerry's Records – by David C. Madden
The Scene
Walk in the door and up the stairs to get to Jerry's. Once inside the main room, try to get over the initial shock of so many records--Jerry's is actually quite accessible and navigable. There are no windows, however, so the fluorescent beams may be a bit taxing on your rack-browsing self.
Who's There
Vinyl geeks who know and understand there's no place like Jerry's to fulfill their needs. But for those of you who aren't so vinyly inclined, don't let them intimidate you. There's enough merchandise for everyone.
Such As
There's a perfect balance of esoterica and everyday kitsch. Pining for that copy of "The Muppet Movie Soundtrack" or "Mousercize" your mother threw away when you left elementary school? Jerry's probably has it.

Hands down, the best rare/used vinyl store I've ever seen or heard of. We're talking Rock, Pop, Country, Folk, Spoken Word, Classical, Reggae, Hip Hop, Soundtracks, Childrens, Sound Effects, Jazz, Blues, 80's, New Wave, Dance, R&B....you name it, Jerry probably has it. Widest selection I've ever seen, and the prices CAN NOT BE BEAT. The average record is 2-4 dollars, and you can usually find what you want. Importantly, they get new records in EVERY WEEK, so your shopping experience is never repetitive. Rare records are also available, and the prices are very fair. To top it off, the staff is off the wall knowledgeable, and there isn't any question they can't answer. They've been at it for decades and when it comes to vinyl, it's all about the love of music and collecting. Show them a record, and they'll tell you when it was pressed, and the story behind the album. A visit to Jerry's is like getting a masters in music, and the classes are free. Various listening stations are available to sample the music as well. Go to any music store and 30 bucks will buy you three CD's, tops. Go to Jerry's and you'll walk out with 10-15 albums. They also sell and repair turntables at reasonable prices. Recently I moved from Pittsburgh and I'm usually disgusted by the prices and limited selection I've found in NYC and LA. Nothing compares. So if you find yourself on Murray avenue, and you notice the humble entrance to Jerry's opposite Kazanski's Deli, do yourself a favor and climb up the stairway to record heaven.
