Warning!!!. This place is the worst. They have junkies working there, and the place is filthy. I have also been told that there is someone there with Hep C. They don't know how to cook food and the service is terrible. I wouldn't eat there again if you paid me. I would get the same thing if I would eat out of the trash can behind my house. Unless you want to risk getting hep c or food poisoning I wouldn't eat there. Eat at your own risk!!!!

Real food, I'm a fan.. I have some errands that I run in Dormont every Monday. When I finish the errands I stop at Knossos every week to pick up a couple of Gyros to go for my girlfriend and I. The food is always good as is the service. It's somethng we look forward to. As a matter of fact, when I headed out the door today my sweetie remarked, "It's Knossos day, cool!"

Delicious Food!. I have tried many greek restaurants, but my search for great greek and polish food ends at knossos. I got to tell you, everything I have ordered was phenominal. The knossos gyro is the best I have ever tasted. I'm all about sauce, and you can't beat it here. It was for sure finger licking good. Nothing tastes better than homeade food, and it seems like they put a lot of time and work into their food, because it shows. I highly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends.

Warning-- Do not Eat!. We were first going to dine in but, after seeing the filth everywhere we decided to take the food home. I love restaraunts that have an open view of the kitchen. In this case after seeing how my food was handled by the employees, touching money, the cash register, and themselves then never putting gloves on to handle the food.We took it home and threw it away. We couldn't bring ourselves to eat it and actually enjoy it after what we witnessed. Again, I love open view kitchens!!

The staff was very unpleasant and seemed to be annoyed and confused with their job. I'm not sure how they still have a successful business.

I am a retired restaraunt owner.

Left Before 1 Bite. Have always wanted to try the cool lookin' gyro place in Dormont so wifey and I stopped in for a quick bite before the Pens game. Found out that there is no such thing as a quick bite at Knossos's.

(quotes from the waitress)

Wifey doesn't like lamb meat, so she was going to get a steak gyro like any other gyro joint in PGH. "That will be 1/2 hour wait for that." I looked at her confused, so she said "Everything here is real, so we have to cook it." Ok, I'm happy to hear that you cook your steak but we are close to faceoff so she'll just have a cheeseburger. "That will take 1/2 hour too. Everything here is not fake so we have to turn on the grill and form the ground meat..." "If you want a gyro, that will take, like, 3 seconds." Now I'm getting suspicious so I looked over at their gyro meat on the vertical broiler that was in a corner, not spinning and looked quite nasty.

So this waitress was basically telling me, they are not ready for business if they have to turn on and heat up the broiler and grill. They have to turn on and heat up to oil and deep fryer, prep the ground meat and cut up the veggies because "We are not fake". BUT, if you want our signature dish "it will take, like, 3 seconds."

Cannot comment on the taste of the food b/c we left and got some delicious hot dogs at Dormont Dog's.

Place looked dirty, mismanaged and quite frankly a front for maybe some illegal activity.

Best Gyros in the City. I am a regular here. I have got nothing but great service and outstanding food. It's always a friendly environment. Best gyros I ever had in pittsburgh by far. Definately give it a try.

No Way!. I was excited to try the gyros here but I was anything but impressed. The place is run down and very dirty. The guy taking orders was not clean either and handled both the food and money without wearing gloves or washing his hands. The only tomatoes they had were rotten. The soda fountain was out of order as was the credit card machine. We had to ask for plates even though we had already said we were eating in. Dormont is cleaning up its act, so should Knossos.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!. Had it delivered - there was a screw and 2 bolts in the container with the food. It was covered in onions as though they sauteed these pieces of metal with my food and didnot notice when it was packaged. It is unbelievable! When I called to complain and speak with a manager, I was told that the owner was out of town and the person in charge refused to call me back. I wish I could shout from the rooftops - DO NOT EAT THERE!!!!!!
