This is not Starbucks. With unambiguous, no-frill names for the sizes of drinks, everyone feels included.. The Scene
This Mt. Lebanon shop is long but without the extreme narrowness that usually implies, with a soothing, earthy green color scheme, and an extended bar that includes a sweet case near the entrance, so passersby can ogle the goodies. Several walls are lined with sky-high shelves brimming with coffee merchandise and black-and-white framed prints of nostalgic Pittsburgh.

The high ceilings make the grinding noises of the coffee sound like serious business, music to the ears of any coffee enthusiast. The espressos and cappuccinos here are served single (12 oz.) or double (16 oz.). Coffee and hot chocolate come in small, medium and large.

Popular Perks
According to the barista, the place sells more caffe mochas than anything else. CTR's offers an assortment of American, African and Indonesian coffees, as well as a nice variety of decaf. Of course there's an espresso bar. The iced carrot cake biscotti from the sweet case is a must-try. Customers can buy some of their specialty blends by the pound, including Zimbabwe AA, La Lucie, a Coffee Tree Roasters exclusive.
