Great Food/Poor Service. We've enjoyed the Aspinwall Grille for many years. It's a great local spot with reliably good food. On our last visit, we stood at the door waiting to be seated. It was not a busy night and tables were open. After a while, I asked one of the waitresses if we should seat ourselves and she snapped back that we should not. We were then shown to our seats and within a minute asked if we were ready to order. We asked for more time and the waitress returned with waters and asked again if we were ready to order. When we were not, she left and did not return. We closed our menus and waited 15 minutes. No waitress. It seems we had offended the wait staff by asking for the music to be changed or turned down which apparently was an unreasonable request. Clearly, we were not going to be waited on, so we left. It was a difficult experience for my husband and I and our kids. This was the second such experience. Very disappointing.
Fun atmosphere with tasty food. Aspinwall Grille is a great place to go for a casual meal. They have a great beer selection and many different types of food. I highly recommend the grilled veggie sandwich. My boyfriend really enjoyed the cheesteak sandwich, but the liquid Velveeta cheese on top was a little much. The same Velveeta cheese (the waitress identified it as Velveeta) was in the chicken quesadillas, which I would probably avoid solely due to the liquid cheese. My father got the fried fish sandwich, which was HUGE! He finished every last bite! In the past, I disliked dining at Aspinwall Grille due to the smokey/bar environment. But the new addition has eliminated that issue and the restaurant is more family friendly than ever! Fun atmosphere with quality food.
User review by melinasuzanne. I was there on several Tuesday nights. The music is Ok but the place is too small for live music, you have to walk through the band to enter. There was a young woman there who was repulsive, she would bend over and shove her rear end into all of the band members. It was so tasteless. These illicit behaviors would cause me not to go back there on a Tuesday night again.
Out of this world. The food at the Aspinwall Grille is EXCELLENT! I've been there on multiple occasions, each one better than the next. The burgers are sooooooooo good!
They say "Good Food, Good Fun, Good Friends"..
From the unassuming exterior on Commercial Avenue, next to a Subway, it's easy to (wrongly) dismiss Aspinwall Grille as simply another neighborhood hangout. The art deco décor-chrome tables, checkered floor, black-and-white accents, and the walls decorated with photos of Aspinwall years ago make for a simple, streamlined setting.
The surprise comes from the unusual: chicken teriyaki over toasted angel hair pasta; shrimp sautéed with fresh vegetables, in a saffron Alfredo sauce; pork medallions topped with pear cardamom chutney.
The daily specials--a soup, a sandwich, and a fish entrée--make the most of the freshest ingredients available. A can't miss is the barbecued chicken and ribs platter. Juicy and falling off the bone, they're grilled in a plentiful sweet sauce, and served with cheesy grilled potatoes.
Although the place is small, many evenings include live music: Tuesdays--"open mike night--or Karaoke Fridays. A jukebox and three TVs keep patrons entertained when live music is not available.
