I have some (alot) of books that need to go.Do you buy books and what type. I have some as far back as 1929. Please email me on what you can do.

Caliban's Caliban. I like the bookstore and would give it a good review except for one thing, and that thing has prompted me to write this review.

The guy behind the counter has always been weirdly rude and passive-aggressive when I have bought, sold, or traded books there. He's the worst thing about the store. He reminds me of a pawnbroker who reluctantly and contemptuously accepts, or refuses, what you brought in. He's rather like the evil pawnbroker in some 19th-century social novel.

I've spent a lot of time in used bookstores in Berkeley, Portland, OR, Madison, WI, and Cambridge, Mass--university towns where the bookstores have a much larger stock and more room to wander--and never did I encounter a clerk with such a disdainful persona.

Specializing in books so rare you won't find them anywhere else in town.. The Scene
The first thing that hits you when you walk inside is the smell. Yes, those are old books and there's no other aroma so sweet, so fine. To the right is the checkout counter, inside of which lie the rarest of the Caliban rare. Be sure to take a look.

Good For
Caliban has the rare books, but it's always stocked with a healthy amount of the not-so-rare. The store will often buy the more interesting college texts from students irritated by campus bookstore buy-back prices. In terms of genres, there's a shelf for everything. Ask and ye shall find.

For Adults Only
A fantastic collection of 1950s pulp sex novels with titles as titillating as "Company Girl" and "Squeeze Play." Buy a couple for $5 to $10 and get an idea of what romance novels were like back when they were written for men.
