Best pancakes in the world. I miss this place so much for it's crepe-style pancakes after moving away from the 'burgh. The strawberries-and-creme pancakes are amazing as are all the other pancake options, and friends tell me their other non-pancake items are delicous as well.
Well-Done Greasy Spoon. This is how a greasy spoon diner should be. The food is all of the comfort variety, including the Pittsburgh Salad with french fries, and all of it is good and affordable. Most people tend to regard this as a brunch place, but even the traditional lunch fare is solid. There are no surprises or creativity in the dishes, but that's hardly why people continue to frequent this place. The pancakes are a good example of the food -- quantity more so than quality. The service is efficient, and the decor is kitschy in a restrained way.
GREAT BREAKFAST SPOT. I recently moved from Pittsburgh and Pamela's is one of the few things I miss. The strawberry and cream pancakes were my favorite. The next time I go back I will be sure to stop in.
Constant crowds file in for monster pancakes and tasty lunch bites..
The Scene
There are three Pamela's, each with its own style and decor. All are simply decorated and very clean. Service is fast and friendly, and there's always a fresh pot of coffee circulating to warm up ever-present mugs on the tables. All three locations bustle at breakfast and lunch, and there is often a line.
The Food
It's best known for breakfast, and the star attraction is the pancakes, which are extremely thin with crisp edges. The most popular pancake fillings are fresh strawberries, brown sugar and sour cream. There are also excellent egg dishes with crisp home fries. Corned beef hash lovers shouldn't miss Pamela's version. There are numerous omelettes, as well as cinnamony French toast. For lunch, the club sandwich is a big seller, as is the Greek salad.
Pancakes. Pamelas certainly has the best pancakes I have ever had, at any restaurant, or anywhere else I have had pancakes. I have tried to duplicate them at home and have never had one even come close.
I love Pamela's!. I used to be a student at the University of Pittsburgh and the best resturant to go to was Pamela's. It had such a good setting and the food was great after a good night partying! ;) Check out Pamela's...it is worth every penny!
delicious soup.
The soup served by Pamela is really good
i especially recommend forrest mushroom
it's worth a try!
PAM(yes M)Cakes. Pamela's pancakes (PAMcakes) are the best! I haven't had Eat N Park's food since I lived in Pittsburgh in the mid 1980s, but my family and I were recently treated to Pamela's breakfast in Shadyside as part of a Christmas gift that displayed itself as a daylong treat marathon to food and fun in Pittsburgh. I once heard some people say they drove 240 miles just to have dinner at a particular restaurant in another state and then drove back home in the same day. I thought that was ridiculous, but I would do that to get another wonderful breakfast at Pamela's. You must try the fruit-stuffed pancakes and more.
BEST BREAKFAST IN THE BURGH. DO NOT LET THE APPEARANCE FOOL YOU, PAMELAS DEFINITLY HAS THE BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN. TRY THE APPLE PANCAKES THEY ARE THE BOMB!
best hotcakes!!. chocolate chip banana and whipped creme hotcakes are to die for!!! thin and crispy... crepe-like but browned.... oh so good!
