The Scene
As customers walk into the small shop, they can see the old-style wooden ice cream makers lined up on the floor, complete with rock salt. All of their products are made in this expensive, time-consuming manner for authenticity. A blackboard behind the counter lists the fresh flavors available.
The Food
They offer both yogurts and ice creams, some even low-fat. There are fresh fruits, variations on a chocolate theme and, for purists, pure cream ice cream, with no flavorings. Customers demand cookie dough, but try the malted flavors. Made in conjunction with the Church Brew Works, you get the wonderful malt taste with the richness of the ice cream.

Went there once before, and found it to be quite a nice homemade ice cream shop stuck around the corner from Rite Aid in Oakland. fairly fast service, even when the line was out the door. and the taste of their unique flavors is wonderful. highly recommend this place for when you're craving ice cream and near Oakland.

Their malted ice cream is unique and delicious and I haven't found anything like it, which always brings me back for more. The cookie-dough is my favorite. Not like the your average Ben and Jerry's or HagenDaazs.

You can smell the freshly made waffles cones before you even step inside! They always have several homemade flavors to choose from. This store has been an institution in Pittsburgh for years now, and with good reason. The inside of the shop is small, but they keep their line moving fairly quickly. There is no better place in Pittsburgh to get ice cream!!
