The Scene
After grunge broke in the early to mid '90s, Dr. Marten's boots were on high demand. Stores couldn't carry enough of them. Thanks to Bovvers (formerly Air Wear), smack dab in the middle of the college party/concert hub known as Oakland, no rock 'n' roller or pierced and pink-haired teenager was without those infamous bouncing soles. Today, Dr. Marten's aren't necessarily the "it" thing, but Bovvers manages to stay on the cutting edge of footwear with other imported shoes, boots, band t-shirts, hair dye and stockings.
Street Style
Trendy, gutsy brands like John Fluevog, Muro, Converse, Air Walk, Doc Martins, all specializing in skate shoes, steel toes and sneakers. Shoes for every street-savvy style-hog, girl or guy. The price is, undeniably, behind both the name and the quality. These boots are usually built to last, even if the trend doesn't. Each in-season pair usually ranges from between $80-$150, but there's always an impressive clearance selection.
