The Woods Run section of the city is not the fanciest of neighborhoods..
The Scene
Western Penitentiary is housed there, as is the county sewage plant. But, in fact, it is a pleasant and friendly place. Part of the reason people are smiling is because they have easy access to Don's Diner. There is a counter and some booths, and a rack of current and interesting magazines and papers for those eating alone or the chronically married. Service is lively and friendly, and the place bustles at breakfast and lunch.
Diner Standards
The breakfasts are a strong draw for the diner, the potatoes, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, and peppers diced to order. There is thin and thick-sliced bacon, as well as Mancini's bread and Breadwork's rolls. There are delicious, big pancakes available also. For lunch, Don whips up an admirable Philly cheesesteak, as well as the traditional hot and cold sandwiches.
