The Scene – And it's a good thing they have been: naked brides can get cold. This place offers the gamut of wedding garb, from reasonably priced gowns to the best designer labels. They'll also help design a dress if that's what the lady wants. And it's all about the brides anyway, isn't it? – – Carlisle's promises a great collection of wedding clothes, from traditional to chic up-to-the-minute fashion. They carry swanky models like Priscilla of Boston, Givenchy, Vera Wang...all the label the movie stars dig. But pickings are also good for those who want to spend a…
Worst experience trying on dresses!
by Pitt8
This was the worst experience I have had trying on wedding dresses. 1) WEBSITE: I asked to see a dress that was on the website and they had no idea what was on their website. I tried to describe it, still nothing. Then I asked if the could pull up the website and they said they didn't have internet.
2) Employee: the girl I had to help with dresses just said "Go through and pull the dresses you want to try on." I told her I was new to this and wanted some of her suggestions. She pulled a few dresses but wasn't very excited about me being there at ALL!
3) Dresses: It was a small selection and a lot of the dresses looked like they were 10 years old with fraying ends and makeup stains on the dresses. The worst part is that most of the dresses were a size 6 or 8 and I need a 10 or 12. All of the dresses looked horrible on me b/c they were no where near my size, not to mention this is supposed to be a good experience for a new bride, instead it was humiliating. I am not a big person but I am not a size 6 either! They told me I didn't have to bring anything with me when I asked if I needed to bring a bra or shoes or a slip. They didn't give me a slip and the strapless bra was very old and poorly made.
4) Bridesmaids dresses: The selection was poor and there were several dresses that had styles of the 1980s or dresses that someone would wear for an ice skating or dancing with the stars routine. By those dresses being at this place, I knew this was not the place for me.
I have since been to nicer bridal shops and had a great experience. Some of my friends had a better experience at Carlisle's but I wanted to share mine. Just being honest.
- Pros: location
- Cons: service and selection
