Editorial Review for Duquesne Incline – by Bob Braughler
The History
Built in 1877, the incline still serves the same purpose that it did then--transporting Mt. Washington residents to the city below. The Duquesne Incline is one of two fully functional inclines that scale Pittsburgh's Mount Washington. The Monongahela Incline also operates about a quarter-mile to the east.
Tourist Count
Each year, thousands of visitors to Pittsburgh take the ride to the top, where they find an observation deck overlooking the impressive span of Pittsburgh's skyline, as well as memorabilia and photographs of the incline's storied past.
