Editorial Review for Dana's Bakery – by Sam Edelmann
The Scene
The newly redone facade says only Dana's Bakery, and looks humble. Inside, there is a long glass case, filled with pies, pastries, and most importantly donuts. There are no tables to sit down, no fancy signs or pretensions. People come for the goods, and, usually, they know what they want.
The Menu
While Krispy Kreme donuts are not available here yet, Dana's glazed are very similar, and in fact, lighter. Customers line up soon after opening time to pick up a bag or box to take home or to the worksite. The glazed raised are heavier and sweeter. Dwarfed by their lighter brothers, they are also a formidable donut. The taste treats don't end with donuts, however. The nut horns here are light and crispy, and are not to be missed. I never leave without some buttercrust rolls to go along with dinner. And for dessert, both the apple and lemon meringue pies are standouts.
Ring the Wedding Bell
Wedding cakes are done with the customary buttercreme icing and a variety of fillings. Price averages around $1 per slice, which is very reasonable, but they recommend that couples call of stop in for all of the details and choices.
